Tablescape Thursday

Thanks to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting Tablescape Thursday so we can play with our dishes! Click on her name to see lots more inspiration.
The name of this tablescape is "The last roses of summer." Since it is still hot here in Florida we can still have a garden themed tea party.

Inspiration for this tablescape came from these tiny lawn chairs, I bought them at Hobby Lobby a while ago on sale at 80% off.
I haven't used them in a tablescape before as I couldn't get it together with a centerpiece, etc. until a couple of weeks ago I was in Ross and found this cute little metal doll chair for only $3.99! I knew right away how I would use it.
I filled it with roses!
I used the colors of the roses in my Old Country Roses china, and used the OCR china
with the green dinner plates from Dollar Tree! I'm so glad I bought those plates, I have been able to use them with so many tablescapes. I used them in a different tablescape last week, scroll down to see or click here.

I also had new Old Country Roses napkins found at TJ Maxx at a great price:
I was going to use the OCR napkin rings,
but thought the gold napkin rings give more of a pop!
I placed a red rose in each tiny chair:
They have little votive cups for candles in them.

I couldn't decide whether to place the little chairs on top of the salad plate, or
at the top of the place setting.
Which do you like best?

Love the centerpiece!

I hope you like my Last Roses of Summer tablescape!

I'm also linking to Lady Katherine's Tuesday Tea Time. Click on her name for lots of tea time inspiration!

Have a happy day!

God Bless.

Christmas in July

Today I'm taking part in Felicia's Christmas in July party, go here for more participants. The picture above is the centerpiece I used at the Christmas tea party I hosted for my Faith Sharing Group last December.

I didn't take very good tablescape pictures because I wasn't really planning on using them for tablescapes.

The Centerpiece is The Holy Family, gold angels, and gold candlestick. A burgundy tablecloth was used.

I collect Nativity sets and this is one of my favorites. I bought it at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago. It is displayed on a gold-leafed charger with a gold net scarf and gold roses.

The china is Old Country Roses "Season of Colors." The plates are displayed on gold-leafed chargers. These chargers are from Pier 1 many years ago. My children gave them to me even before chargers became so popular. Napkins have the OCR rose pattern. Flatware is Chippendale by Oneida.

The Season's of Colors OCR plates have different topiary designs. At this tea party I used the Christmas tree topiaries only.

The above shot isn't clear, but you can see the place settings.

My Faith Sharing Group friends are such sweet ladies. In the background this picture you can see my tea time Christmas tree that has mini tea pots, tea cups, and other tea related items on it. I put up seven small themed Christmas trees and one large 7-foot tree at Christmastime.

Here you can see the gold rimmed crystal. I don't know the name or maker.
(That's me in the white blouse.)

I hope you enjoyed my Christmas in July photos! Thanks to Felicia at Playing with Dishes for hosting this fun time event.

In about four months I'll start decorating for Christmas and I'll show lots more of my OCR Christmas china then!

Have a happy day!
God Bless.

Tablescape Thursday

I enjoy participating in Susan’s Thursday Tablescapes, go here to her blog for lots more inspiration.

I’m sharing a green and yellow tablescape I put together around a tablecloth I bought at Home Goods a few weeks ago. It is a very unusual color of green, sort of between a spring green and a bright avocado. The color doesn't show true in most of these pictures.

The centerpiece is made from a small wooden arbor I’ve had for many years. I added more flowers to it. The green silk zinnias were bought at Dollar Tree.

The table is set for a ladies luncheon. Each place setting has my yellow Fiesta casual dinnerware.

The flatware is Oneida’s Chippendale.

The Napkin “rings” are tiny wicker baskets and were 30 cents each at Hobby Lobby.
I bought the yellow Martha Stewart napkins several years ago at K-Mart.

The serving plates waiting to be filled with cookies and crackers are from my collection of yellow depression dishes.

A chicken pasta salad will be served

I am sharing the recipe for the Chicken Pasta Salad served at this ladies luncheon. It is a little different from the usual pasta salads.

Chicken Pasta Salad

13 oz. whole wheat rotini, cooked as directed

2 cups cubed, cooked chicken

1 cup seedless red grapes (I used black grapes)

½ cup raisins

2 or 3 ribs celery, chopped

2 carrots, thinly sliced

¼ cup toasted sunflower seeds

¼ cup chopped scallions (or sweet onion)

½ cup Italian salad dressing (or more)

Salt and pepper

10 spinach leaves, torn into bite sized pieces

Mix all together, chill thoroughly.

Enjoy!

My husband loves it too!

The green tablecloth:

I almost didn’t buy the green tablecloth for a couple of reasons – it is 100% cotton and I don’t usually use much green, but it was only $11.00!

Since I brought it home I have been so pleased that I did! As you see it does go well with my yellow Fiesta casual dinnerware:

and I think it will go with some of my other china. It looks good with my Old Country Roses china, bringing out the green in the OCR:

It also goes with my OCR Christmas china (below.) It even goes well with my contrasting burgundy color on the wall of our dining room!

You will be seeing more of this green tablecloth in future tablescapes!

I hope you enjoyed this green and yellow tablescape!

Have a happy day!
God Bless.

Tuesday

Christmas Tea Party today!

I've been absent for a few days because I've been preparing for a tea party for my Faith Sharing Group (today.) Above is part of the centerpiece I used.
Above, and below, the tablescape.

Below: Place setting. I used this Old Country Roses "Seasons of Color" place settings.

Faith Sharing Group:
My Faith Sharing Group members, L to R: Joan, JoAnn, Marianne, Barbara, and Gail

We had a wonderful time of fellowship. The tea party was a little easier for me because they each brought finger foods! We had scones, lemon curd, strawberry preserves and mock clotted cream. Sandwiches were cucumber, pimento cheese, curried egg salad, tuna salad. Pumpkin bread, Shrimp cocktail, ham rollups, a relish tray, and an assortment of cookies was enjoyed by all.

Christmas Gliches!

How are your Christmas preparations coming along? I've had a lot of gliches, but just keep on keeping on! Last week while retrieving boxes out of the top of our walk-in closet, I was standing on a step stool and gently (I thought) leaned on the opposite side of the top shelf and caused it to fall down!! The closet is U shaped and when one shelf fell, it caused a domino effect and it all fell down!!! Clothes and stored items where everywhere!! I did not need this, neither did my husband, he was working, plus getting ready for a trip! We both were so short on time, but had to stop everything and deal with this. I really needed time to sort through things and get rid of a lot of stuff!! My husband had to take the time to fix everything before he left! I had to let some things go so I could continue decorating, etc.

Second glitch -- I have a bum thumb, arthritis in the joint of my right hand thumb! It hurts like crazy when it is aggravated. I am right handed, and do you know how very much we use our thumbs? They are used for everything!! I have to wear a thumb stabilizer 24-hours a day, it keeps the thumb in one place and keeps you from using it. It's difficult to type, and to write (my Christmas cards have been delayed for this reason!) It also hurts to wrap presents, so most of that is awaiting me, as well! It's a little better now, but I have to keep from using it too much to keep it from starting to hurt again!

I hope you are enjoying preparing your celebration for our Lord Jesus' birthday!
