Yellow Depression Glass

Inspiration for this tablescape came from these plates. I purchased them recently at an antique store when I went to visit my friend. I collect yellow depression glass, but didn't have matching plates. The name of this pattern is Madrid. See the diamond  shape in the center:

Now that I have dinner plates I can do a complete tablescape with my yellow depression glass collection!

For the centerpiece I used a pretty yellow glass platter, topped with silk flowers.
Everyone knows my favorite flower is the yellow rose so I included these in different glass sherbets down the center of the table.

I only have one of these parfait dishes, wish I had more!

Each sherbet is a different design, and sets on a different saucer:

They are all very delicate and pretty!

I think they make such a pretty centerpiece!

Each place setting has these pretty ruffled bowls on top. I'm sure they have a name, but I don't know what it is! If you do, please tell me!

I also collect yellow rose vintage hankies. I wrapped a different hankie around each napkin:

I used faux crystal handled flatware to keep with the delicate color scheme.

 Which napkin is your favorite?

I also used mismatched yellow depression glass tea cups and saucers.

I forgot to take a picture of each cup and saucer :-(

A view from the top of the biggest centerpiece

Now is a good time to show my yellow rose tea cart, since I haven't shown it in a while. I usually keep most of my yellow depression glass collection on top and bottom of this tea cart. With a lot of it used in the tablescape you can see the painting on top of the cart.

 It is handpainted:
You can see some of the painting through the plate!

The tea cart sets in front of this window in the dining room.
The curtains are made from a crocheted table top cover (on the left), and a crocheted table top runner (right.) The curtains are off-white voile. I made them years ago.

I hope you like my yellow depression glass tablescape with the yellow roses, two of my favorite things!

This is so pretty! I don't think I've seen a lot of the yellow depression glass and this table shows it off to perfection. I love how you used yellow rose hankies on each napkin! Those little touches are just so perfect!

I just love you yellow depression glass dishes, Katherine. You are the reason I started collecting them but it is not easy to find them in good condition. Beautiful table!...Christine

Katherine, this is very pretty. I am not really familiar with the yellow depression glass (you don't see it as much as the pink and green), but is wonderful! I love what you did on the table and how you used the vintage hankies with the napkins. That's a very clever idea.

Great job!

XO,

Sheila

What a lovely table, Katherine! Depression glass is hard to photograph well, but you've done a wonderful job showing us your marvelous collection!

Katherine - love your table cloth, your napkins and that gorgeous tea cart! However, it was so much fun to see your yellow depression glassware! I recently bought some topaz Fostoria water glasses and your table is so inspirational for me. I have a Fostoria obsession, unfortunately - lol!! Enjoyed this so much!

Wow...I was just watching the news about the devastating tornado that hit the NW part of TX last night, and now I see these beautiful yellow roses. The yellow rose of Texas suddenly takes on a whole new meaning in memory of those who lost their lives and the many who are still missing.

I'm so glad you were able to find the dinner plates!!! Now your collection is able to go full swing...and you did just that! Lots and lots of yellow roses adorn your table, and then they just carry on over to that great tea cart. It's hard to pick a favorite hankie!

I hope you and Joe have a wonderful weekend in store. Take care, Katherine!

Yellow Depression glass is my favorite! I recently started to collect a pattern by the Lancaster Glass Co. and everyone I know thought I was nuts. Yellow is just gorgeous. And I have those very unusual bowls in green. Someone told me they were probably made by the Indiana Glass Co. but I have not been able to confirm this. Please set another table with your yellow - simply wonderful tablescape this week!

Oh my goodness, Katherine...this table is SOOOOO YOU!!! It is Beautiful & I have to tell you, one of my Smock & Talk friends also collects the yellow Madrid pattern. I am sending her a link to your post. She will enjoy seeing it as much as I did, I'm sure.

Hope you had a lovely Mothers Day.

Rett

I don't think I've ever come across yellow depression glass. What a pretty table you've set with it. Those bowls are amazing, and I love that you used different patterns of cups and sherbets. I may have to "borrow" the idea of wrapping napkins in handkerchiefs. I love vintage hankies. laurie

Katherine!

I can't believe you are going to be in St. Augustine on Saturday. I just got home (decided to come home for the weekend), but we might go back down to do some work there. When are you going to be at the Cathedral? Before or after lunch? Maybe we could get together and eat or have a cup of coffee or something. Let me hear from you, okay?

Thanks,

Sheila

Katherine, I haven't seen the yellow depression glass before. What a delightful color and the way you accented its soft colors with those fabulous flowers is just wonderful. I think my favorite accessory to the table has to be your mismatched hankies/napkins. How charming is that?

I have absolutely zero clue how I missed this until now. This going in three different directions is confusing me.

I really love this in a big way. I don't have a single piece of yellow depression glass, and I love it. The hankie napkins are a favorite part. I am going to be on the lookout for some that compliment my china for my next luncheon club. What a pretty idea.

Katherine, I'm in St. A at Barnes and Noble using their free WiFi. The lengths we go to in order to blog!

So glad you liked Granny's story. I miss her every day of my life, but I am so thankful that she's gone on ahead a little and is waiting there for me.

Is it raining down the road? It has been doing so off and on here, more off than on, and we could use rain. Remember last year and the torrential rains? I don't want that much water, but afternoon showers are NICE.

XO,

Sheila
