Thursday Tablescape

Thursday Tablescape is a favorite day for dish-a-holics! Thanks to Susan for hosting, go here to her blog for many more inspiring tablescapes!

Every week I feel I have run out of anything new to do for Tablescape Thursday. I look around the house for something to be the inspiration.

I found these pretty napkins at TJ Maxx and thought they would go well with my yellow Fiesta dishes.
I looked in the linen closet for a tablecloth to use, I had forgotten I bought this golden tan tone on tone fall leaves tablecloth at Ross a few months ago!
Next I needed a centerpiece, I looked in the garage and decided on this metal cloche. To read the story of this cloche, go here, it was featured in Marty's Cloche party a few weeks ago.
I had also bought these large sparkly acorns at Hobby Lobby last month.

These small acorns are from Michael's and HL. The silk flowers are from Dollar Tree.
I bought these brown ceramic pumpkins at Dollar Tree about six weeks ago when they first put them out. I'm glad I didn't wait because they went fast.

The pumpkins look good on our Yellow Fiesta china
on top of the napkin
I used the yellow handled flatware again.

The Fiesta mugs are for apple cider. The crystal glasses for water.
The tablecloth goes well with the walls

I had a hard time deciding whether to use the flash or not.
In this case I think the colors are more true with using the flash.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my fall "acorn" tablescape.

We still don't have the fall decorations out of the attic, I had hoped to get them down this past weekend, but we were called out-of-town. Maybe this coming weekend!

Have a happy day!
God Bless.

Sailing

We went away for the weekend. I wish I could say we spent the weekend sailing, but that isn't so! We drove up to Georgia to spend the weekend with Joe's sister. She has stage 4 ovarian cancer and her husband has been in the hospital about ten days. We feel so helpless to do anything, but we pray for them and with them! Their names are Angela and Bill if you would like to lift them up in prayer as well.

Some of you know I collect Madame Alexander 8" dolls. I don't often buy them anymore, but when I saw this one at Tuesday Morning a few months ago, I bought her, mostly because she is so different from my other MA dolls!

She doesn't have a name and I've been trying to come up with one for her. Any suggestions? (Someone suggested Sally, but it can't be Sally!)

She looks cute displayed with this sailboat.

This picture was taken on our back porch. The weather is getting nice enough to spend time outside on the porch. We eat out there and I love sitting in the swing reading.

Did you notice my new banner? My sweet friend, Janet, made it for me! I love it! Thanks so much, Janet!!

Have a happy day!
God Bless.

Tablescape Thursday

Tablescape Thursday! The day we get to play with our dishes, share with others, and see what tablescapes they are sharing! Thanks to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting each week! Go here to see many more tablescapes.

It is exciting to see how these tablescapes come together. Each week I don't think I'll have anything new to come up with, but so far something comes together somehow. This week's tablescape started with these napkins:

I saw these napkins at Marshall's a few weeks ago. At first I walked past them, but went back to get them because I liked the colors. At the time I had no idea how I would use them.

When I came home I took out my butterscotch yellow dishes to see if the napkins would go with them, hmmm, yes, they do, but now I would have to come up with a centerpiece. Couldn't find anything.

A week or so later we had to drive to Daytona Beach for a doctor appointment. We had lunch first, then had about 30 minutes before the appointment. Just enough time to run into a Ross that was closeby! I made a quick run through Ross, oh the thrill of the hunt!! LOL! Nothing.
Wait, what's that I just passed by? I turned around for a second look. Hmmm, would this work? I could always give it as a gift to someone later.

I really like Jim Shore's things, but they really don't match my decor. This is a copy of Jim Shore's. Isn't she cute?

I was so excited to see that this little chicken did indeed match the dishes and napkins!
I had a new tablescape!

The burgundy tone-on-tone tablecloth
gives a nice contrast to the yellows

I tied the napkins with satin ribbon and tucked
in a few small fall flowers

I used yellow handled flatware

This tablescape is a breakfast or brunch tablescape
with bagels, juice, and coffee

The baby chicks on the mother hen are really cute!
Best of all this Jim Shore copy only cost $6.99!

She makes a great centerpiece, don't you think?

A while ago I used these same dishes in a more formal tablescape:

to see that tablescape, go here.

This tablescape with the same dishes is much more casual:
Okay, look what else I bought! They looked so sad to be left behind, I just had to bring them home as well! How cute are they!
I decided not to include them in the chicken tablescape, maybe their time will come later.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this tablescape! I enjoyed putting it together!

This place setting is for you! Tea or coffee?

Have a happy day!
God Bless.

Welcome Fall Party!

Time for a Fall Party!

It's still quite hot here in Florida and doesn't feel, or look, like fall at all, but I'm joining in the Welcome Fall Party Rhondi at Rose Colored Glasses is hosting! Click here for lots more fall inspiration.

Since Florida doesn't have a drastic change of seasons, it is a little difficult to go out and pick pretty dried things of nature, colored leaves, berries, etc., so we have to depend upon silk faux leaves and berries for our decor.

My husband does always bring me some pretty real roses in fall colors! He even brought some today!

I add silk colored leaves in with the fresh roses.

Here in Florida we do faux fall decorating with silk fall leaves.
I tuck the silk leaves here and there around the house.

Tucked among the breakfast nook chandy.

Tucked among the crystal chandelier in the dining room.
I do this every year!

Last year some friends were sitting at my dining room table and one of these leaves came falling down! How appropriate, almost like I staged it! LOL! Great timing, they said, "a message from above!"

A white ceramic pumpkin is surrounded with flocked faux leaves.

Faux leaves tucked here and there.

I tuck silk leaves into other floral arrangements.

Yellow and orange flocked leaves are tucked among a few yellow collections.

Vintage treasures
During the fall I display my mother's Jewel Tea Aladdin tea pot, and coffee pot since they have the fall colors on them. On the wall behind is a Thomas Kinkade fall mini painting, one of the four seasons paintings.

I have a scarecrow collection I will share next month. They are still stored in the attic.

I like to decorate for fall with silk sunflowers as well!

I also tuck faux berries into floral arrangements.

I don't do much Halloween decorating, just don't care for Halloween, but I do have three or four cutesy Halloween things I will share in October.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing a few ways I decorate for fall.

I do miss the "smell of fall" a distinct fragrance all it's on. I also miss seeing hills and valleys displaying the splendor of spectacular reds, golds, browns, greens! But, I love the pleasant fall weather we have here in Florida!

My favorite Fall poem:

The leaves lay like hands
upon the ground.
When the wind rustles them
they applaud softly.
Laura E. Stevens

A fall rose for you!

Have a happy day!
God Bless.
