Sailor Girl Painting

I'm back to blogging with some exciting news! My first great-grandchild arrives next month! A little girl!! Daughter of my oldest grandson and his wife, Emily. She is due August 24th. They haven't revealed her name yet, that will be a surprise.

They are decorating the nursery in bright pink and navy. I promised to paint something for the nursery. This little sailor dress below was the inspiration for the painting:
I found it at Cracker Barrel, it's size 12 months.
Notice the buttons with anchors on them.

I painted this little girl wearing the sailor dress!
I added pink to the background because the curtains have pink in them.

Here are some close-ups of the face:

They live in Tallahassee, FL, over three hours from me, so I haven't seen the nursery yet, but they just sent me pictures. I didn't know they had the navy and a pink baskets on the shelf -- perfect match!

By the way, grandson Taylor built that shelf, didn't he do a great job! They told me they plan to put a vase of daisies next to the painting to match the daisies the little girl in the painting is holding. Nice touch!

Some of the nursery:

I wish the picture wasn't cut off at the bottom so you could see the crib sheet has tiny blue and pink anchors, and the crib dust ruffle is navy chevon pattern (both from Pottery Barn.)

Here they are opening the dress first, before they opened the package with the painting:

My daughter, Alyson and her husband, Dave, also sent me a video of them opening the painting, so I could see the expressions on their faces! Loved it!

I tried to find one of these cute sailor hats, but the only one I found online was $30! More than the little dress cost!

Can you see the buttons on the dress?

Isn't this a cute picture of Taylor and Emily! I borrowed it from her Facebook page!

I hope you enjoyed sharing in our excitement.

I'm joining Cindy's Amaze Me Monday party and Marty's Inspire Me Tuesday.Click on their names for lots of inspiration.
