Special Time!

Lynn and I have been friends for 33 or more years. We used to work together for NASA at Kennedy Space Center. We are both retired now, but remained close friends all these years. We live over 100 miles from each other now, but she still comes to visit me a few nights each year! I love when she comes! She is also who I blogged about redoing her kitchen a few months ago. She is now redecorating her living room and dining room and wanted me to help her make some silk floral arrangements. Her color theme is yellow, purple and gray. I wish I had some pictures of her house to show you. Here is the vase of flowers we did for her dining room table:
(This is my dining room, that's why the walls don't match!)

Look at the beautiful flowers we found at Hobby Lobby:

The glass vase has an unusual design of
"air bubbles" in it (doesn't show up here.)

The second arrangement we made is for Lynn's new granddaughter's nursery. Pink and gray is the color scheme for the nursery with a few animals including elephants. This little elephant vase was filled with pink roses when the baby was born, and Lynn wanted to display it with silk flowers to display in the nursery.
We love how it turned out!

The pink lily was the perfect finishing touch!

Here we are with our accomplishments!

Lynn is happy with the way it turned out!

BFF!

I also painted two pictures for Lynn's granddaughter's nursery. One is of a baby elephant, and the other a baby giraffe. I will post those at a later time on my blog. I hope you enjoyed seeing our fun time together. We also went to an Oktoberfest, shopping, out to eat most meals, church, etc! Can't wait till she comes again!

Tea For Two Tea Party

My friend, Jan, is having a milestone birthday Saturday so I
decided to have a Tea for Two tea party for her.

I chose a Bluebird theme since Jan and her husband love
bluebirds, are in the Bluebird Society, and have
blue bird houses in their back yard visited by lots of bluebirds in the spring.

I've had this cute little bluebird tea pot for a while, it was part
of the inspiration for the theme.

Can you see he is wearing red tennis shoes?!
Isn't that adorable! I found him at Cracker Barrel
several years ago.

The Food
(see menu at bottom.)

 Doesn't Jan look young!

This is me! See the little bluebirds in front?

They are salt and pepper shakers

I found these at Cracker Barrel too.

I have always loved tea parties! I don't do many these days,
only for special occasions

This little bluebird belonged to my sister,
I always think of her when I see it.

The Menu:
Sandwiches: Cucumber, egg salad, pimento cheese
Chicken salad in mini phyllo cups
Cranberry orange mini scones
Lemon curd in mini phyllo cups
Assorted cookies
Tea
Sugar cubes
Lemon curd
Candy

I hope you enjoyed seeing our Tea for Two Tea Party!  It was fun!

500th Metamorphosis Monday Celebration

I'm a little late, but I want to join Susan's Metamorphosis Monday 500 Celebration. It took me a long time, but I finally found this particular blog post from 2009! It is about a childhood doll that I had restored. I think it is my most favorite Metamorphosis Monday. I posted it on November 29, 2009: Click here for more fun on Susan's Between Naps on the Porch blog!

I'm joining in on Susan's Metamorphosis Monday today to show my old childhood doll I just had restored. This doll is over 50 years old.

For more MM fun, go here to Susan's Between Naps on the Porch.

When I mailed my old doll to Naomi to be restored, it was in six pieces as the rubber bands had deteriorated. This is the way it looked before.

The doll had to be cleaned

The hair had to be washed:

and the hair had to be set:

The dress had also deteriorated and could not be saved so the doll restorer took the dress apart to make a pattern so she could copy the dress exactly.

I remember the dress as being a pink-lavender color, it had lots of ruffles on it. She found a very similar fabric in this color and texture.

Here are the yards and yards of ruffles that had to be hemmed on both sides, then stitched on around the bottom  hem.

Then the other ruffles around the hip area.

She did an exquisite job working on every detail!

Ta-da!

Can you believe how gorgeous she turned out!

She looks like a brand new doll!

I can't remember what I named her, she is an

Effanbee Honey doll. I'm trying to think of a lovely name for her,

any suggestions?

She doesn't look like she is over 50 years old, does she?

Naomi, is the doll restorer, and she has an Etsy shop,  http://artheliasattic.etsy.com here, she does wonderful work, a real perfectionist!  Thank you, Naomi for all your hard work! You have made me very happy!

I think you are a miracle worker! From this:

To this:

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving, we certainly did! Two of our children and their families were here and we had so much fun with them.  I'm always sad when they leave, I wish we all lived closer together.  I'm now thankful I have my blog and blogger friends to keep me company!  I'm too  tired today to start Christmas decorating, but hope to start tomorrow.

2018 - I hope you enjoyed seeing my doll transformation!

Have a happy day!

God Bless.
