Smiling

Look at this smile, can you look at her without smiling!

I have a smile on my face, and gratefulness in my heart for answered prayer! Hannah moved east away from FL - just what we prayed for! We had rain most of the day, but not much wind, as the storm was a little over 100 miles east of us. I’m now praying for the people who may be in Hannah’s path, my daughter lives in SC, and we are praying it doesn't cause any damage there. I'm also praying about the next hurricane, Ike, which is predicted to miss FL, but could change directions!

I wish I could have a big smile sewed in place like this little dolly, so I could smile through any situation, good and bad.

I enjoyed watching the GOP Convention. I really enjoyed all the speeches. I had a lot of smiles as I listened to Huckabee, Palin, Thompson, and of course John McCain. I also had tears, hearing details of his imprisonment and suffering. I will vote for McCain because of his integrity, he is a man of substance! Our children and grandchildren need a hero, a politician hero. John McCain is truly a hero, no one can deny that.

I used to be a registered Democrat, but changed years ago when the party's values and morals declined and they became so liberal. As a Christian I cannot vote for anyone who is for abortion. Because of the sixth commandment of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:13) I know the Lord forgives those who ask for forgiveness for sins, but I cannot be a part of anything that allows women to make this mistake. I know women who have had abortions and I have seen the guilt and pain they have suffered. They are close friends and I have prayed with them and walked with them through this.

I can’t smile about the way the media is so biased. I will never watch CNN again. They speak so negative and disrespectful of all Republicans. I wish we could go back to the old times when the media, and everybody, had respect for our president, our leaders, and our country. The media was respectful of presidents like F. Roosevelt, and Kennedy when they knew what was going on with them, they even protected them. I don't condone what they did, I just like the way our leaders were respected. I don’t like what has happened in our country. I’m praying for a change, yes, a change for those who are so blinded to what our Lord desires - to have their eyes opened, and their hearts changed to love and follow Him.

I ordered this doll from Sugar and Spice Etsy. I fell in love with her when I saw one similar that Lallee bought. It is from her "Garden Party" doll collection, I special ordered this one with “Yellow Rose” petals to add to my yellow rose collection.

Hi Katherine -
Yes, we do need change. We need to turn our hearts back toward God and His ways. That's the only real change that will make a difference. I say a BIG amen to your thoughts about our need for a true hero. It's been a long time since we've had heros we could look up to in public places. Unfortunately the media doesn't tell us of the heroes out there every day of the week, fighting for us and standing tall in workplaces and neighborhoods across this nation. We need to pray for our leaders - whether we agree with them or not. And respect them. Most of all, we need to pray for these elections and that God will lead us to accept our responsibility to vote according to His principles. Thanks for taking a risk with this one. We need to hear it often.

I think the little doll is adorable, and I so agree with the political statements you made. I'm like you. I can't stand to watch CNN or MSNBC. In fact, Fox is the one we watch almost all the time. Whenever we venture over to one of those other biased channels it isn't long until we have to switch back to Fox. It is such a shame. I'm glad you shared your opinions on this. I am so excited about Sarah Palin and I have a new respect for John McCain after his choice of VP and his speech last night. I loved Rudy's speech too.
Keep up the good fight.

I agree, you can not look at that sweet dolly without smiling.

So glad for your comments on McCain. I agree so completely with you. The young people of this country do need a hero and someone with integrity to look up to. I was equally impressed with hearing Cindy McCain speak. What a wonderful first lady she will make.

Katherine, Wow on this post!
First that dolly gave me a big smile this morning. You have shared the convictions of your faith and your heart so openly and honestly and you have shared it well! You write with wisdom that comes from seeing thru the years how liberal the Democratic party has become. I cringe when I read or see how casually O'Bama tosses aside McCain's service to our country. Thank you for sharing this post.

You sound a bit melancholy. This election has been a mad house! I cannot understand why so many people have been duped by Obama. Why so many, Christians have been duped.
Hugs from Colorado. Hope your day is wonderful!

The doll is adorable.
All I can say is go McCain-Palin! It is a critical election with the possible appointment of two to three Supreme Court justices in the next few years.
It was a great honor to meet him.

Have a great weekend.

Katherine,

I love your smiling dollie and just check out others that are for sale. I love the green dress and the white wicker chair she is sitting in.

I am from Canada and am watching the US election closely. Our Prime Minister just called a Federal Election for October 14th, so we will be going to the polls as well.

Take care. I hope you are well.

Be sure to drop by and pick up the Autumn Friends Award I gave out yesterday.

Blessings,
Mary

Great post Katherine~
I've been struggling with weather or not to put anything about my political view on my blog. Last night I finally decided it's MY blog and that I NEEDED to put it out there. It's subtle, but it's there.

It's high time we got some "normal" folk in Washington. Not born rich or into politics. REAL people. With morals.

Your doll is adorable, love the petals!

Very beautifully and thoughtfully said, Katherine. We are so excited and pleased with McCain's VP choice, Sarah Palin. Feeling very grateful.

Love your little doll. Aren't they adorable?

Go Katherine...I could not have reflected my opinions better. I also cried while watching John McCains speech. I love him and his courage of conviction. I respect you so much for stepping out and posting this on your blog!

One of my friends attended the RNC and is sending me a pin from there for my husband who was elected into our local government last year and will be running for an ever more aggressive seat in 2011. I will not tell you that I am thrilled that we are becoming this involved in the political machine as I am fairly jaded by what I have personally witnessed in politics...however..I LOVE the conviction that my husband has to make a difference around here for our grandchildren.

Hi Katherine,
It is so nice to meet you. I love this post. I recently had quite a stir on my blog about my political opinion and got some rude comments. I deleted the whole post but decided to keep my picture of Sarah Palin up there. It is so nice to meet another like minded believer. Please come back.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

Amen and amen again! I've been searching to find like minded bloggers.

You may enjoy this blog http://www.jillstanek.com/
I heard her on the radio and have recently visited her site..she's great!

If we all pray for God's grace on Sarah and John to give them the strength and power they need and protection....I know we can make a difference!

GOD bless you and your strong convictions..God needs leaders!

Hi Katherine. Your little doll is precious and you are right, you can't help but smile when you look at her.
I am in ttoal agreement with you about the elections and the media. Here we have a real life hero in John McCain and the people don't really care. It's a shame. I am very excited about this election.
Ike looks like it may be headed toward Texas and our kids live in Houston so keep on praying!
Hugs, Rhondi

I agree with so much of what you say. A couple around the age of my broghter had gotten pregnant in high school and went to get an abortion. Years later when she married, she couldn't have children and her marriage ended in divorce. So sad! The father of the aborted baby went on to marry and have a child with someone else.

I agree about the respect part. I think, even if you disagree with decisions a President makes, you should respect the man and not slander him. No one can know the presures they face unless one has walked in the some shoes.
