Show and Tell

Time for Kelli's Show and Tell, go here to see lots more!

I'm sharing a little shelf I have above my sewing machine. It has mostly mini sewing related items. On the top shelf beside the antique sewing machine ornament is my mother's thimble. She always used a thimble while sewing, but I never could get used to using one! I bought an extra small thimble, on the right, hoping it would help me, but it still felt awkward on my finger! Do you use a thimble?
The little oval picture is of me when I was about two years old. At the bottom of the K, is a yellow rose, it's a pin made from a cut-out paper rose. Someone gave it to me years ago. I think you can click on the photo to enlarge and see other details.

I hope you enjoyed my Show and Tell! Thanks for stopping by!

That shelving unit is so unique and such treasures you've placed on it. To answer your question, no I don't use a thimble, but I DO have my mother's from many, MANY years ago. Loved this show n tell this week.

It is so nice you have such a lovely place to display your mother's thimble. I have used a thimble when sewing heavy fabric. It really does help to push the needle through while saving your fingertip.

I do use a thimble if the fabric is thick or heavy.
Your shelf is so cute. I wish we could see your picture better. I'm sure you were a cutie.

Very cute! I have quite a few old sewing treasures but not all of them are out on display yet. I'm re-doing my sewing room area. Thanks for sharing with us today. ~Adrienne~

I like the scrolly K you have on the top shelf. I use thimbles occasionally but it did take some getting used to. I put it on my middle finger. I wish I had kept all the thread spools that were wooden years ago! Thank you for sharing!

Hugs,
Lallee

That's so sweet! I did a show-and-tell with my various sewing decorations a few weeks ago, and my goal is to have it all together like that some time. I love those shelves. And that dress hanging from the peg is so cute! So are the little dress form and the figurines and the K.

I don't wear a thimble, either. It feels awkward and I can't really work with it on. There really have not been that many times I've poked myself with a needle, fewer still that I have bled on what I was working on, none that it left a stain, so I think I am ok without a thimble. :-)

I like your collection especially the bears. I have trouble using a thimble also. I've found the leather ones work best for me. Hand quilting just requires a thimble.

What a sweet shelf and it is filled with wonderful treasures. I have tried to wear a thimble, but can't get used to it either. I hope you are having a great weekend!
