Show and Tell - Beaded purses

Time for Kelli's Show and Tell http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/ go there for lots more!

Today I'm sharing two little beaded purses. They both have chains for handles. The little vintage beaded bag, below, was given to me about 25 years ago, by an elderly man in our neighborhood. His wife had died and he was giving away some of her things. She was well into her eighties, and I don't know how long she had the purse. It is very worn. The chain handle is dark and doesn't show up on the dark background.
I bought this little beaded purse (below) for my oldest daughter when she was about four years old. She is now in her forties! My youngest daughter also carried this little bag when she was preschool age. I display these little bags on a hat tree in the guest room.

Thank you for your interest, please leave a comment! And please do return soon!

Katherine

These beaded purses are so wonderful. What a great idea to keep them out in the open to enjoy. They really are works of art...

I love your bags. How neat to have been able to use them - and now have them as gentle reminders of the past.

This is something that always catches my eye at the antique mall. I love to see the patterns and the type of beads used.
Yours are even better to have such a wonderful history to go along with them. Very nice treasures.

Take care,
Connie

The vintage purses are lovely. I'm so glad that you've kept them. It's always nice to keep a few things from when our children are growing up. I have my daughter's grade 8 graduation dress. She told me to give it away, but not chance.

Thanks for sharing. I wish you a wonderful weekend.

Those are some beautiful purses. You have a great way to display them, rather than out of site in a drawer.

I am always drawn to bead purses like yours. I have two that my mother played with as a child. They must have been my grandmother's.

Those are very lovely bags. Isn't the guest room a perfect place to display many personal treasures?

Hi Katherine :) Those bags are so sassy! Beads give a bit of extra "life" to special accessories, and can make them so dressy. Thanks for sharing them. Blessings! Q

I love the idea of displaying them in the guest room! Wow, how hard it must of been on your neighbor to give away one of his wife's things. But he must of valued you as his neighbor to do such a nice thing.

Cute Scarecrow too! :)

Pretty purses! I have an antique one from my college roommate that is special to me. She gave them as bridesmaid gifts, which was nearly 40 years ago!
