Show and Tell

I haven't been able to participate in Kelli's Show and Tell for a few weeks and have missed all of you. I have something I want to share with you. When we went to Alabama last month we stopped in Birmingham to visit my 90-year-old Aunt Thelma. She is my mother's sister (my mother passed away at 75 seventeen years ago.

Aunt Thelma knows I love tea things and she told me to look in her china cabinet to see my grandmother's (her mother) bone china tea cup. I didn't even know she had one! The tea cup is such thin fine china I was scared it would shatter while I was holding it! I have no idea how old it is but my grandmother acquired it back in the 30s when they bought their house, the house came with many boxes of wonderful antiques the seller left. The tea cup was in those things. I'm sad to say I will never get this tea cup because Aunt Thelma has a daughter who it will be passed on to!

I took a few more pictures of items in her china cabinet. I thought this tea pot and cup and saucer so unique and cute, I've never seen any like them!

This small fine bone china bowl has a china ladle that matches. It was also my grandmother's.

Aunt Thelma has always been special to me. I told her she is the prettiest 90-year-old lady I've ever seen! Here she is with me, and her daughter Kathleen (and little doggie.)

I hope you enjoyed my Show and Tell this week. Go to Kelli's for more fun!

She is a beautiful 90 year old. I'm so glad you got to visit with her and to share her memories and look at her lovely things.
Missed you while you were gone. I've been out of commission for a couple weeks myself. Glad you're back.

Aunt Thelma is still a beauty at 94. It is always so wonderful to have these special family pieces that move from one generation to the next. Sometimes I wonder about my own things and whether any of my family will want them one day or whether they'll get sold to the highest bidder on eBay.

How beautiful and delicate your Aunt is AND her china as well!

One of my most treasured memories is of when I was a teenager and I accompanied my Great Grandmother Lizzie to see her older sister Beulah, in Warrior, Alabama! I wish I had paid closer attention to the memories they were sharing with one another. I will always remember these 2 little old ladies (ages 87 & 90) giggling as they sat with each other on the couch!

What sweet treasures!! I love the ones with pink roses, and that bridal one is just too cute. It's too bad you won't be able to have these! But I am glad you got the pictures to remember them by.

Hi Katherine,

I enjoyed seeing some of your Aunt Thelma's things. So pretty, and the teapot is very unusual. I've never seen one like that either.

The bride and groom set is unigue. Does she have a story about it? I like the feet on the china tea bowl.
*While I was visiting in Alabama last week, I joined some ladies from our women's club at Emma's. We had a good time and I made pictures. I had the duo salad plate.

The tea cup with the purple flowers in the first picture is my favorite. My daughter LOVES purple. Thanks for letting me drool over your tea cups. :D

Katherine,

I certainly enjoyed your S&T. Your Aunt Thelma certainly has some lovely items in her china cabinet. I especially enjoyed seeing the tea set.

Be sure to drop over and see the photos of Griffyn's first birthday. He was a super good the entire day until about 6pm. Amazing for one so young.

Take care, my friend. I always enjoy my visits here and this was no exception.

Blessings,
Mary
