Weekend Chat

Look what my sweet husband brought me today! He went to Walmart for a few things, and came back with these! He usually brings yellow roses, but they didn't have yellow today.

Aren't they absolutely gorgeous! Have you ever read the bottom of my blog? It says:

"Every rose is an autograph from the hand of God" -T. Parker

I've had lots of surprises this week, look below at what came in the mail! This is a gift from Karla of Ramblin Roads! She just chose my name, I didn't have to do anything to earn it! I haven't heard of these books before, but my interest is up. It even has some religious undertones, with scripture, etc. I'm going to take it on vacation with me soon when we go on Spring Break!

"Death of a Six-Foot Teddy Bear" by Sharon Dunn is a mystery for "The Bargain Hunters Network" It was voted Book of the Year by American Christian Fiction Writers. Thanks, a million, Karla!!

See below for what I'm reading now! Dr. Oz's Diet Book, I like to hear what he has to say on the Oprah show and the tips he has given about dieting. I especially like that he suggests "a handful of walnuts" for a snack! I have just put in a big order of walnuts. Do you like walnuts? Being from the South, I even like black walnuts! My grandparents had a black walnut tree and we ate them a lot! I don't know if Dr. Oz would recommend the black walnuts, or not!

All last year Joe battled cancer, lymphoma. It is treatable, but not curable, it usually returns. We have decided to start eating healthier to try to win this battle with cancer. I have three different diet books and I am combining suggestions of all three, trying to come up with something we can do. So far we're doing pretty good, with only a little cheating!!

Above: Two more healthy diet books I'm using with our diet plan. We went to a seminar last month and learned about the Hallelujah Diet based on Genesis 1:29. www.hacres.com The green book above is a modified version of the Hallelujah Diet. My daughter gave us this book and it has several vegetarian recipes we use in it.

Yesterday I received a "Cancer Update" email from a friend that was published by John Hopkins Hospital. It is a confirmation that we are on the right track with changing our eating habits. I considered putting it on my blog, but is very long so I will e-mail it to those of you who are interested. My email addy is on my blog profile.

So! How do you like the desserts we are allowed (above!) I saw this in a magazine and cut it out for a joke for Joe!

Thank you for visiting! I hope you are having a very nice weekend!

Katherine

What beautiful roses and what a sweet, thoughtful husband you have.

Congratulations on the gift you received. I'm sure you are very deserving of any good thing that comes your way.

Katherine, in reply to the comment you left on my blot tonight, I think Song of The South has been baned.

You asked me about my banner. It is a picture I took last year when we went on a trip to Yellowstone, but we visited a lot of other places. This picture was made in Teton National Park. I think that's in Wyoming, but I'm not sure.

Katherine,

The roses are beautiful. Your hubby is very thoughtful to bring them home to you. I love roses.

The books look interesting. I especially enjoyed the diet books. We all need to eat healthier, though no matter what we eat it seems it is full of preservatives.

Love the dessert. I would take it with just a little low fat salad dressing to dip it in.

Blessings,
Mary

Hi, Katherine -
What beautiful roses. You know my favorite, too, is yellow roses - but a rose is a rose. How sweet of your hubby to give them to you. I love the quote you have on your blog.

Thank you for stopping by my blog to visit and for your sweet comments about my dear grandsons. We actually have one more grandson and 2 granddaughters (our dear daughters children). Aren't grandkids fun? I'll be back soon to see what you're up to.

The Hallelujah diet is fantastic! I have one of their large cookbooks and enjoy it very much. Another great (and similar) program is the CHIP program. Check with local resources in your community to see if classes are offered on this lifestyle change. There is also a wellness center with great resources called Lifestyle Centers of America that would be helpful. Happy eating! The taste buds change and you'll find yourself savoring the flavors of real food more and more.

Praying for you!

Gorgeous flowers from your sweet husband! I pray for his healing, in the mighty name of Jesus. You are doing well changing the eating habits. I have always thought that something we eat must be causing cancer. Funny cupcakes.

Even though they were out of yellow roses, I see the yellow tissue paper! Sweet!

That picture with broccoli is SO funny!

What a sweet husband you have. The roses are beautiful.

I have to say that I do not like walnuts. They are the one thing I couldn't force myself to eat for anyone. My aunt used to make a black walnut cake. I know it was a lot of work and effort and everyone else loved it. The scent of that cake alone made my knees wobbly. Isn't it interesting that we all have food we love and food we dislike. I wonder where that came from.

Hi Katherine. Jusr stopping by to say hello and see what you've been up to while I have been away. That Dr Oz book is good and we have adapted some of the things he says to our lifestyle. My husband has had colon cancer and heart problems so we try hard to eat healthy. I love the broccoli cupcakes!
Your roses are lovely. What a thoughtful husband you have.

you will have to tell me about the Teddy Bear mystery book and if it ends up being very good.

It is hard to change diets and there are so many opinions out there! Most agree on lots of vegies and fruits (although some do not even agree on large amounts of fruits). Then a lot of people are on the organic things or non-pastorized mild products, all of which makes things difficult if you live where I do. It gets a bit confusing!!

LOL Broccoli dessert ;-) Give Joe a hug for being such a sweetie! And please let me know how you like the Teddy Bear mystery. It looks like a good read for your vacation!
