Spiritual Sundays

My Spiritual Sundays post is short, but it's powerful! My daughter sent this to me after I told her about the rough week I've had since the election. I just love it when my children give me counsel! Here's what she sent me by email:

"Base your knowledge of God on scripture, not experience. He always hears us.

In this case, I think the majority got exactly what they were praying for. Other times, when we get a "no" or "wait", we'll never understand why this side of heaven.

His ways are not our ways. We can't understand it all. That's faith -- even though we can't see. "

Thank you for your interest, it is so appreciated. Please leave a comment, and please do return soon!

Never apologize for a short post; I happen to think they "hit the spot!" God does NOT salute the American flag, and we need to pray (as instructed) for our leaders. Thank you.

You have a very wise daughter, Katherine. I suspect she got some of it from her mother. Thanks for sharing this.

Hi Katherine,

We haven't been in touch with each other in a long time. How have you been?

I didn't realize you are participating in Spiritual Sundays. So do I, and I hope you can visit today.

Your post is so true. God's ways are not our ways. Short but powerful post.

Katherine-
In church today our pastor voiced similiar thoughts and "PRAYER" is what we can keep faithfully doing. We may not have voted them into office but we sure can Pray for and about them!!!
Blessings! You are not alone! Karyl

Dear Katherine,

That's a very beautiful and encouraging thought. So true, God's ways are not our ways. I remember I was a novice in 1978 when Pope John Paul I died only a month after he was elected. We were all so sad about the death of this new pope, who seemed to hold such promise. But then John Paul II was elected, and we know how God anointed him to evangelize the whole world.
God will bring good out of this election too. Meanwhile I'm praying that things like the "Freedom of Choice Act" will get blocked and stalled and never be signed into law.

Katherine,

I have just discovered your blog through Kelli's No Place Like Home. I will certainly be visiting back and looking into Spiritual Sundays postings. I love meeting people through the blogs and to see others who love God. It makes me think of the prophet in the Old Testament that God showed he was not the only one that hadn't bowed his knee to idols. One of my posts after the election was about the scripture where God said "Nations are just a drop in the bucket". He is the one who is in control. It is hard for our human eyes to see this but He keeps reminding me. I have 2 daughters who sound like yours. They are great encouragers even though we don't agree on everything.
