I have enjoyed seeing other Show and Tell pictures of grandmothers, so I am featuring two pictures of my grandmother. The larger photo on the stand is of my grandmother when she was a baby. She was born on Christmas Day. The smaller oval frame holds a tiny photo of her when she was a teenager. She married my grandfather when she was sixteen, and he was 35, a widower with two small boys. He was over six feet tall, and she was about 5 feet two inches! They had four more children. They were married 55 years when he died. She lived to be 91. She was loved by all! Her great-grandchildren called her Nana, but her grandchildren, we called her "Mama!" My grandfather was "Papa!" He was a fine man too!I could write a book about Mama, Lena Olive, she was a spunky little woman who would climb a ladder and go upon the roof to fix it! She had a garden on their farm and canned or froze most of their delicious food! She milked the cows and I can remember her wringing a chicken's neck, plucking the feathers off, then frying up a chiken dinner with all kinds of fresh vegetables! I still miss my grandparents.

I can't believe that age gap between your grandparents! Love the photos - it's great to see how many people are featuring old family pictures on their blogs.
What wonderful memories you have and I know how you feel about missing her.........I too hve a heavy heart of loss when I think about a moment I had with my nanna.....even though I am now a nanna myself it was only a short 6 years ago she passed.

Sounds like you grandmother had alot of spunk! I can't even imagine marrying someone that much older than me. Guess it was love though, since they were married so long.

Katherine, what a wonderful story about your grandmother. Don't you love how they dressed back then~baby and adult? She sounds like a strong woman. Your grandfather was fortunate to find her, and for his children to have a mother again. I'm glad we don't have to wring chicken necks, though ;-)
