Pre-fall Tablescape

I'm one of a few who are not posting fall or Halloween this early. Temps here in central FL have gone from 92, to 91! So no fall decor here yet! I'm holding off as long as possible since I get tired of fall decor over three months before Christmas decor.
I'm calling this a pre-fall tablescape! Inspiration for these colors started with these April Cornell napkins, purchased at TJ Maxx:
They look very nice with this green tablecloth (from Home Goods.) They are a little more green than the pictures show.
The clear napkin rings tie in with the clear goblets (from Dollar Tree!)
I call these green salad plates petal plates! I love using them and this is the first time I have paired them with these square cream colored dinner plates.

The centerpiece:

The centerpiece has deep rose hydrangeas, berries and cream colored yellow roses on a cream colored dish.

The green flowers have velvet petals, the others are silk.

I chose to place the napkins beside the plates so the green petal plates show up fully.
These colors aren't too summery, or fallish, just right to carry us into the fall season next month.
The green colors go nicely with the wineberry colored walls in our dining room!
I still love our oak furniture even though some may think it is outdated. I needed sturdy furniture for my big husband and big grandsons and this serves us well!

I also place two goblets on the left side, just to balance out the tablescape. Someone (anonymously) once left a comment telling me it was wrong to place the glasses on that side! Hey, how about our left handed guests, I have several left handed friends!

It's Still Summertime!!

It's still Summertime!! Forgive me for posting the last three posts on Fall decor for the Talent Scouting Party! (I had a mission!) It's still summertime, especially here in FL! I'm one person who does not like decorating for fall early! For one - I don't want to have to look at it for four months till time for Christmas decor, which I don't like to go up before Thanksgiving! I don't like to skip Thanksgiving, skipping thanking our Lord for many blessings! Okay, now you know some of my dislikes! Here are some of my likes - favorites, if you will! Yellow! Yellow is my most favorite color! Yellow daisies are a close second to my most favorite yellow rose!


Inspiration for this tablescape was these bright yellow napkins. I have forgotten where I bought them (maybe Kohl's?)

I wanted to do one more bright summery cheery tablescape, before summer ends. We still have two more months of blazing heat here in FL!



I used bright yellow salad plates with white dollar tree dinner plates, my everyday flatware (Oneida Chippendale) and white tea pot napkin rings.

The centerpiece is a white wicker dolls chair and my Daisy Girl figurine.




I call her Daisy Girl because she has a daisy ring on her head, she is carrying a straw hat full of daisies, and she is holding a daisy in her left hand, can you see it?






She also has daisies on her dress:


I like using one of my doll chair collection in centerpieces. Someday soon I will probably give them to our granddaughter.


But, I will miss them!! LOL!


I debated on whether to use white tea cups on top of the plates:

I chose this one!

I don't know the name of this crystal, I bought them at Ross about ten years ago. I chose to use these because the gold rim matches the gold on the flatware.

I also couldn't decide which side of the little chair I wanted her on!

Let's Dish Challenge!

I'm joining Cuisine Kathleen's Let's Dish Challenge! This month's challenge is Destination.
The Destination I chose is English Countryside. I'm using my Cottage dishes by Thomas Kinkade, these dinner plates were a steal at $3.99 at Marshall's a few years ago:

And the salad plates only $2.99:

These thatch-roof cottages remind me of some you see on an English countryside.

Which is your favorite scene? I'm partial to this one since we have a large painting of it:

They do make a pretty tablescape!

For the centerpiece I used a tea pot and tea cup as I'm sure you find these inside each of the thatch-roof cottages!
The tins of English teas are on the tray.

Left to right: London Tea, Harrod's Special Blend Tea, and English Afternoon Tea.

The white rose is in honor of Princess Diana:

And, of course, English Ivy entwines the tray!

Cream colored napkins and cream handled flatware is used with the spring green tablecloth.

I placed a crystal water goblet along with a small brandy sniffer, because we are likely to be offered a brandy or sherry with a meal at an English table.
I know this because we have a British neighbor who invited us to afternoon tea and she offered us sherry before the tea!
