Welcome, Emily!

 
When I put away the Christmas decorations I did this vignette on the end table in the family room.

 

I bought this pretty plate at Home Goods a few years ago for only $5.00, some of the black paint on the border was missing but easily fixed with a marker pen. I love bargains like this!


I like to display this pretty plate during the winter months.
 

After my grandson's recent engagement to his "Emily" I decided to honor her in this vignette by replacing the bird with their picture:
 

 It was a little hard to get a good shot because of the reflection on the glass




The vase is made from cord. I found it at Michael's last year.

 Welcome to our family, sweet Emily!

 The beaded edge of the lamp shade compliments the vignette.

We're Back

We arrived back home Monday night after traveling 1700 miles the twelve days we were gone.

Home Sweet Home!

The day after the funeral in North Alabama, we drove to Knoxville, TN to visit number-three daughter and her family for a few days. Next we drove across the mountains to SC where number-two daughter lives with her family. We had already visited with number-one daughter and her family in Tallahassee, FL the first night we were gone. She and her husband also drove with us the eight hours to funeral.

Visiting the younger two grandchildren was a good idea as it was a good diversion from the sadness of the funeral. (We had also visited with our two grown grandsons, in Tallahassee.)

We visited another kind of mouse in TN, different from the DW mouse in FL!

She is five.

This little puppy, Madison, is a new member of the family in SC.
Madison is adorable and gave us lots of love, kisses, and laughs! So did Caden! He's five too.

We also visited the Farmer's Market for lots of fresh fruit and veggies!

I enjoyed seeing many family members, but it's good to be back home!

He really did lead us beside the still waters!

He gives us the grace to get through any trial and tribulation, even the death of a family member. Praise The Lord!

Sailing

We went away for the weekend. I wish I could say we spent the weekend sailing, but that isn't so! We drove up to Georgia to spend the weekend with Joe's sister. She has stage 4 ovarian cancer and her husband has been in the hospital about ten days. We feel so helpless to do anything, but we pray for them and with them! Their names are Angela and Bill if you would like to lift them up in prayer as well.

Some of you know I collect Madame Alexander 8" dolls. I don't often buy them anymore, but when I saw this one at Tuesday Morning a few months ago, I bought her, mostly because she is so different from my other MA dolls!

She doesn't have a name and I've been trying to come up with one for her. Any suggestions? (Someone suggested Sally, but it can't be Sally!)

This picture was taken on our back porch. The weather is getting nice enough to spend time outside on the porch. We eat out there and I love sitting in the swing reading.

Tuesday Tea Time

I'm joining in on Barb of Grits and Glamour Tea Time Tuesday, go here for lots more inspiration. While we were on vacation we took our granddaughter to her first tea room, I'm sharing this sweet experience with you!
Elisabeth and KK going into the beautiful yellow Victorian Lulu's Tea Room, Powell, TN (suburb of Knoxville, TN)

Elisabeth enjoys her first visit to a tea room with KK and Pop-Pop.
He had chicken quiche with pecan crust topping,
tomato basil soup and deviled eggs.

My Tiered Afternoon Tea had delicious chicken dried cranberry
salad and egg salad sandwiches. The top plate holds strawberry
bread and chocolate chip muffins

Elisabeth had grilled cheese and fresh fruit

and, raspberry tea!

My hot strawberry tea was served is this darling little tea pot!
I so hoped they sold them, but they didn't :-(

This luscious strawberry coconut cake was sooo delicious!

Raggedy Ann also attended tea with us

because Elisabeth wore her Raggedy Ann dress we gave her!

Elisabeth's lunch was served on a heart shaped plate, which matched the hearts on her dress!

I love the sign under the mantel!

Elisabeth loved the flowers in the tea pot vase, she finally took them out!

This is the room we dined in, we sat at this table (this was taken after we ate.)

We were right next to the mantle.

Upstairs was the Butterfly room for children's birthdays parties
Elisabeth will be three in August, if I lived there I would
host her birthday party there!

They had dress-up clothes and hats in the Butterfly Room
I tried to get Elisabeth to wear a hat, but she wouldn't!

Another room upstairs is the Elvis Room for birthday parties!

The heart shaped mirror is so "Elvis!"
