Eat Cake For Breakfast!

When my family was here for the holidays we had a special ceremony for a new sisterhood we formed:
The Eat Cake For Breakfast Society!

When I saw these Eat Cake For Breakfast mugs I had to have them for the girls in my family!
The guys don't care for cake for breakfast (they prefer bacon and eggs!)

My two daughters and I have always enjoyed eating cake for breakfast!
There's one special cake that we always eat for breakfast! My grandmother's Jam Cake!

Back in the 70s my grandmother used to mail us a cake each Christmas! When my daughters went away to college they received a jam cake at the dorm at Christmastime!

Somehow we stopped making them after Nana died, but a few year's ago
Alyson renewed the tradition and started making the Jam Cake each Christmas!

Here are the ECFB Society members:
L to R: "Me", Heather (my grandson Tanner's wife) Ashleigh, and Alyson, my two daughters.
One other member, Emily (grandson, Taylor's wife) wasn't
present when this picture was taken. She also
has two little girls who are future members!

We love jam cake!
Especially for breakfast!

Do you like cake for breakfast?

Here's the recipe!
Jam Cake

1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup blackberry jam
1 and a 1/2 cups raisins
1 cup pecans

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bundt pan. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Add buttermilk. Add flour, soda, baking powder, spices and beat 1-2 minutes. Fold in jam, then raisins and pecans. Pour into prepared pan and bake 1 hour and 10 minutes. Cool completely before taking out of pan.

Let me know if you make it and how you like it!

Awe Katherine, I love this post! This reminds me so much of what our girls in the family do with Nanny Conner's Chewy cake! Love keeping traditions and making new ones. The cups are adorable and all of you gals are too! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
