Tea Party!

This past Monday I had a real live tea party, with a real live guest - our granddaughter! She was so excited and helped me plan the food, etc.

Do you remember last year (February 16, 2011) I posted the tablescape above lamenting that our granddaughter never came to our house when they visit Florida. They live in Knoxville and usually when they come to FL they go to Disney and have us go there, instead of staying with us.
Well, it has finally happened, they came here for a few days during spring break and Elisabeth and I were alone one afternoon and had our tea party together!!

I was able to use the same theme using these two Beauty and the Beast tea sets.
I bought these tea sets long ago at TJ Maxx and Ross at good prices!

Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, as a little girl was the centerpiece.
I also added a little "table" (plant stand) with Mrs. Potts tea pot and a cream and sugar bowl beside her:

My yellow Fiesta every day china was perfect with the little tea set plates:
Yellow tablecloth and napkins, and yellow handled flatware.

Elisabeth loves turkey so we had turkey sandwiches shaped like butterflies:
She also loves sliced apples and suggested we have those as well:

Cookies for dessert:

Elisabeth has a real Scotty dog and these shortbread cookies delighted her:

She also wanted "real tea!"
So --
Teddy bear tea:
The "real tea" was served in a real tea pot:

And she drank the real tea from a real china tea cup!

Elisabeth's place:
She was thrilled about using sugar lumps and just about used a dozen of them!! LOL!

KK's place (my grandchildren call me KK.)

Each of us had two short bread cookies, two sugar wafers, and two of the new Girl Scout Savannah Smiles lemon cookies! Yum!

And, yes, KK let her eat a sugar lump!!! LOL!

Elisabeth took Belle and the tea sets home along with a bag of sugar lumps and some teddy bear tea so she can have a tea party with her little friend when she comes to play!
The "plastic" tea slips just so far from the tea pot (then retracts back inside the spout when the tea pot is upright again!

Mrs. Potts is adorable, when you tip her to pour you push the knob on the lid and it makes a gurgling sound as you pour the “tea.” Belle sings several sweet songs.

It was a fun and enjoyable time for both Elisabeth and KK, and she'll have memories to last. I took many pictures for her photo album!

Isn't Belle beautiful!

Thanks to Kathleen for hosting her new dishing party! Click on her name for lots more inspiration!

Hi Katherine, I don't know exactly what it is that is so appealing to little girls about having tea parties, but they do enjoy it so much! It looks like you had a wonderful time and that tea set is sooo clever and cute! Sugar lumps are always a nice touch! Linda
