Reading

Since I haven't been spending so much time on my computer I've started reading again in my spare time. I don't have a Kindle, not sure if I want to get one or not. This is the most recent book I just finished.
I like some of the movies made from Nicholas Sparks books (The Notebook, Nights in Rodanthe, A Walk to Remember, Message in a Bottle, etc.) but I don't like the endings that are usually sad! I was hesitant to read this book because I didn't want a sad ending. I went ahead and bought it since I needed something to read while I was waiting for my husband at the doctor's office. It's a nice story, but I was dreading the ending, the main character was a firefighter and I was just sure he would have an accident! I'm happy to say it had a good ending! Yay! Do you like books with sad endings?

Recently I told you about reading The Help (click here.) I finally saw the movie last week. I liked the movie, but was glad I had read the book before seeing the movie as it filled in a lot of the blanks. I do think the movie was well done. Did you like the book and movie?

Here's another book my daughter gave me for my birthday in May (or Mother's Day.) I have enjoyed it a lot.
It's hardback and has lots of beautiful wedding pictures of William and Kate.

Many wedding pictures

and pictures of the reception

but it is mostly about their life stories, very interesting.
William's childhood
and
Kate's childhood

Their college graduation day:

It also has several other stories and photos of other royal weddings, a brief history of each.
Princess Margaret's wedding, 1960 (above)

Official wedding photo of Queen Elisabeth and Prince Philip and their wedding cake.

Below: Prince Henry and Lady Alice Montagu-Douglas-Scott, 1935
There's twenty-two pages with a brief history of many royal wedding. Photos are in black and white. At first I was a little disappointed about all this in the William and Kate book, but after reading the stories I found it all very interesting, so many heartaches among the royals.

I pray this couple will have a very happy ending!

I also bought these magazines

because they had some different pictures, such as this:
The reading from Romans, chapter 12 titled "The Lesson"

Did you buy any books or magazines about the royal wedding? I was surprised to see some apathy about the wedding in the U.S. I found it all very intriguing! I guess I'm just a romantic at heart!

What books have you been reading lately?

I'm linking to The Tablescaper's Seasonal Sunday's, click here for lots more interesting posts!

I've been reading some good books this summer by Kristin Hannah that you might like too. Loved, loved The Help--both book and movie. No royal wedding books for me.

I felt the same about the movie (The Help). I think the book was better and probably wouldn't have gotten as much out the movie had I not read it first.

As to the royal couple? I'm a bit of an addict. It's so fun to see a real life fairy tale with a couple who actually love each other. I'm such a hopeless romantic that way.

Well, you KNOW what book we've been reading lately! LOL

I did read the Help but have not yet gotten to see the movie. I hear its long. We really prefer to watch at home in the comfort of our own chairs/bathroom & away from idiots who use their phones during the show or COUGH all over your back! Our last experience in a movie theater had all that & more & we haven't been back since.

Hugs,
Rett

Haven't read any of these books but I have read an addition 3 myself that I will be blogging about soon. Yes, I enjoyed the wedding and then I won an official Engagement Tea Towel from a blog friend from London so THAT was exciting!!!

I always see The Rescue at Goodwill and keep picking it up but I always end up putting it back. I need to just get it one of these times and finally read it!
I have so many books still on my TBR pile (and i mean a LOOOOOOOOOOT) I've been spending a lot more time on the computer recently, I need to get back into the reading groove!

And I really want a Nook, but im hesitant. I love to get my books from yard sales, book sales and Goodwill where books are all under $1 each, I dont know if i could pay more than that for a book again. Im so back and forth on that one. Its one of those things where if its given to me as a gift I will love it and use it, however I am not going to go out and buy one for myself.

So good to hear that someone is reading. I find that blogging takes up so much time that I don't read much any more, and that's not good. Love the info on the Royal Wedding. I think it's quite interesting. I had a Royal Breakfast to celebrate! Thanks for being a part of Seasonal Sundays.

Hi Kathy,
I love reading and plan to do more when there is not so much outside work to be done and traveling to do. lol
Love Nicolas Sparks books . The one before the Rescue was out of his normal style and had me on edge all the time.

I am on the list at the library for The Help. I like to read the book first too!
I wouldn't be interested in the other book. I am not English, so it just doesn't appeal to me.
I loved Retta's comments! We feel the same way about movie theaters. The last time we went someone spilled a ginormous soda and the sticky stuff ran down all over our feet! And the ignorant people with their phones on! Why pay money to be aggravated!

Hi Katherine,

I saw The Help, but didn't read the book. I watched the wedding on tv (some live, some the next day), but haven't bought a single book, magazine, postcard, mug ... not a thing. But your book looks beautiful. I think I'd enjoy reading the royal weddings from the past section.

I also enjoyed your post about the Streisand design book. I saw it listed on Amazon just last night, and it was the first I'd heard of it. What a magnificent home she's created! Her genius shines through on so many levels.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Bill
