Spring!

Cuisine Kathleen is doing an impromptu Let's Dish for Spring (only) tablescapes! Since I had to take down my orange and yellow Easter tablescape and do a new one I decided to do it in time for her Let's Dish.

I left the new yellow tablecloth for starters:

Out comes the woven spring green placemats again, along with lime green plates (from Dollar Tree)

These pastel plaid napkins match really well
So do the pretty ceramic napkin rings decorated with tiny flowers and a bow!

The centerpiece has pale yellow birds (from Michael's) A green dish holds silk spring flowers and a birdie.

Tucked in with the bird and flowers is sheet music of a favorite song:

So there you have it! Plain and simple, but I think it's lovely!

 What do you think?

I had a hard time getting the colors in the napkins to show up.

 Here's a better picture:

A special place just for you.

With a nice view of the little yellow birds:

This tablescape with this song is dedicated to my ninty-year-old Aunt Catherine who went to be with the Lord this week. We will miss you, Aunt Catherine, you gave us lots of nice memories!

This is my third bird themed tablescape this spring!
And I have even more little birds of all different colors, they are all so sweet!

Happy Spring everyone, I hope you have lots of pretty spring flowers and birds......and no more snow!!! We're in Florida, but also having cooler than usual temps this spring, it's very nice, we are enjoying it while we can!

Thursday

Easter Chicks

I've seen so many Easter tablescapes this season not using the traditional pastel colors. I thought I would also jump on that bandwagon and do nontraditional Easter colors for my tablescape.

I guess the main inspiration started with these cute little yellow chick ramekins:

They are from Michael's a few years ago.  The orange dinner plates are from Dollar Tree. The orange salad plates from Ross.

I also just bought a new yellow tablecloth at TJ Maxx last week.

It was more than I wanted to pay, but..............it was yellow!!

$14.99 is a lot when I'm used to only paying $7.99 at Ross for larger tablecloths.
This one is only 60x84, and it is 100% cotton, I don't like having to iron 100% cotton!!
All that, but........it was yellow!! So I had to have it!

The light yellow looks very pretty with the orange, don't you think?

The bright colored napkins give a nice pop!
More to the story about the napkins - I had seen these eyelet edged napkins
on Susan's BNOTP blog and fell in love with them.

I emailed Susan to ask where they are from and she told me Pier 1, and that they still  have them there. We went to Pier 1, and were delighted to see they were on sale 20% off!!  My husband even insisted I get eight of them instead of my usual four.
I'm sure you will be seeing these on my tablescapes a lot, as they go with almost any color!

Isn't that wide eyelet lace beautiful!
Thanks, Pier 1!!! And thanks, Susan, for the tip!
They are perfect with these colorful napkins!

I've had these paper mache baby chicks a while, they came from Joann's Fabric.

They make an adorable centerpiece, perched on a mini stool
Check out the napkin!
Two mini baby chickens are on each side:

I think they were from Michael's a few years ago

Orange silk daisies complete the centerpiece

Oh, the colorful flatware is from Home Goods.

It all came together to make a very colorful cheery Easter tablescape! Makes me smile!

Some of the pictures didn't turn out so good since it was cloudy outside

I always try for a goblet shot, see the baby chicken?

Here's the special guest place, that's just for you!

Now, tell me, did you notice something wrong with this tablescape? If not, look closely:

                                               Do you see it?

I had placed a charger under one stack to see if I liked it with or without, then I forgot to remove it (since I like it better without) then I took all the pictures without realizing it was there! I had them already posted before I discovered it, so decided to leave it. Did you notice?? LOL!

Happy Easter, May God Bless You!

Wednesday

Let's Dish Bird, Nest, Egg Challenge

When preparing for Cuisine Kathleen's Bird, Nest, Egg Challenge I came up with  two different tablescapes. This is the second one, it is brighter. I posted the other one last week.

I guess the inspiration for this tablescape started with these placemats:
 The price was right!
They look good with all these shades of green:

I wanted to use this wire surround for this birds nest:

The little red bird gave a pop to all the greens!

I love this cute little fat red bird! Found it at Michael's last year.

With the addition of red, I added these beautiful Vera napkins that has the red with other bright colors:

And the red handled flatware was a must!

I also found these tiny little birds (made from mushrooms) tucked away in a drawer.

My husband  took a walk and brought back the Spanish moss that is plentiful around here in FL.
(We put the bag of it in the freezer overnight to kill any mites on it.)

I couldn't decide whether to put the nest right onto the plate or on top of the napkins.

Which way do you like it better?
It shows up better on the plates:

So I choose the plates.

                                              The centerpiece

See the tiny nest on top with the blue egg inside:

It even has a little feather in the nest!

I found the wire surround at a tea room/gift shop in Williamsburg, VA a few years ago. They didn't know what to call it. On the receipt they had "Crown" since it is shaped similar to a crown (with a birds nest on top! LOL!)

Below is last week's bird tablescape. It has round placemats that look a little like a birds nest. I love the centerpiece with the ceramic bird and three bird nests! I also love the soft neutral colors. Click here to see everything.

Which is your favorite? One is neutral, one is bright.
