Celebrity Cook-Along -Pillsbury Dough Boy

I'm joining in with Lynn for her monthly celebrity recipe. This month she is featuring the Pillsbury Dough Boy! Go here for lots of fun and more recipes.

I want to share a favorite recipe my family has used for years. We always have it on Christmas morning! I like to have it periodically throughout the year as well.

Sausage pinwheels are very easy to make:
We love them with scrambled eggs for breakfast, but I have also taken them to parties as hors d'oeuvres. Sometimes they even make it to my tea party table!

Directions and recipe will be at the bottom.

Sausage Pinwheels

2 cans (tube) Pillsbury Crescent rolls

1 pound Jimmy Dean sausage

Unwrap 1 can of rolls and press perforations together to

form a large rectangle, on top of wax paper or foil.

Cut sausage tube in half. Drop balls of sausage on top:

Spread sausage over the Crescent roll rectangle

Spreading to the edges.

Roll the long edge jelly-roll-fashion. I use the wax

paper to help make the roll.

It’s best to chill the pinwheel roll an hour, or overnight,

this helps enable easier slicing.

Slice the pinwheel roll into ¼ inch slices. Place onto

a large cookie sheet (I line it with foil and spray it.)

Place on cookie sheet:

Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes, or until brown.

Makes 20 - 24 slices.

Serve with scrambled eggs. Also good with honey drizzled on top!

You may prepare the second can of rolls and the other half

of sausage the same day, or another day.

Makes a nice Father's Day Breakfast!

Hi Katherine,
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving me a comment. I looooove the idea of calling the "flower bags" cache. very clever! So much better than what I was calling them.
