Being a Pumpkiin

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin.

God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.

He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff-- including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc.

Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see.

I liked this enough to share with all the pumpkins in my patch.

Happy Fall, Ya’ll!

This is my first time to join in on Chari's Sunday Favorites! Thanks for hosting, Chari, so we can re-post a favorite from the past! Click on Chari's name for lots more enjoyment! I must add that Chari is one of the nicest blogger friends online, she leaves such sweet encouraging comments to all!
Maybe a lot of you have seen this pumpkin story before, but I love reading it every year at this time. I posted it last year, October 2009.

God Bless!

Katherine

Hi! I found you through Chari's party and just love what you shared in this post! It especially struck me because we just took our kiddos to the pumpkin patch today but right before we left we read the book "The Pumpkin Patch Parable" which is essentially the same as what you shared. At the end of the book the farmer puts the candle inside the pumpkin and it shines in the dark night just as the light of Christ in us is to shine in this dark world. Thanks so much for sharing your heart, home and faith in your blog!
Blessings to you,
Vanessa
P.S. I'm a new follower! :-)

Good morning, Katherine...

Welcome to Sunday Favorites, sweet lady! I am just tickled pink that you joined in with our little Sunday repost party!!!

What a great post to revisit, Katherine! Ohhh...this is sooo good and I totally agree...being a Christian is like a pumpkin! I have never thought of it this way before...but it's a fabulous analogy!!! I was saved when I was 23 yrs. old and have served the Lord for 30 yrs. I think he's still doing a little scooping and carving on me still! I'm a work in progress but so thankful to know HIM!!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us today for Sunday Favorites...such a sweet post, my friend!!! I hope that you'll join us again!

Have a super Sunday, Katherine!

Warmest autumn wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design

PS...Katherine, thank you so much for your kind words...you are such a sweetheart, dear lady!!!

Hi Kathy,
I use that saying and attach it to little pumpkins and give them out to the girl's in my Bible Study or my decorating class I teach.
It's such a cute saying.
In fact, I'll be posting it myself soon. I do my class this Tuesday again.
Hope you're feeling better.

Katherine,
I love the story about the pumpkin, so very true. I don't know what my life would be if God hadn't taken me in, cleaned me up and scooped out all the bad stuff! Thank God he filled me with His spirit and I am so much better for it!
Great post!
Hugs, Cindy

Hi Katherine,

I missed this when you posted it before, so I'm glad I stopped by. Interesting comparison, and a compelling reminder of God's mercy and kindness.

Hope your week goes well.

Warmest regards,
Bill
