Savannah!

Desserts served at The Tea Room, Savannah, GA

I'm posting pictures of my birthday trip to Savannah two weeks ago. I'm linking to several memes and will break up the pictures to fit tabletops, tablescapes, and tea times. The names of these memes will be posted with each category.
This beautiful tabletop was our tea table at The Tea Room, in Savannah, GA. The tablescape was done with this beautiful blue china (I forgot to look at the name of it!)

The scones and sandwiches were presented on this tiered server:
They were oh so delicious!

The steaming tea pots were brought to us on this wooded server. We each had different teas and received a different tea pot with cozies. (The third tea pot was on the table.)
The desserts (three of everything) Yum!

The German rock sugar (above) was also for sale.
I have been to "The Tea Room" twice in past years, but never with my two daughters. I so enjoyed taking tea with them!

The Tea Room Gift Shop sold the beautiful china. I regret not buying a tea cup, and I don't even know the name of the china!
The Tea Room also sells loose teas, I wish I had taken a better picture of the wall full of large tins of loose teas! I did buy some loose teas, including Emperor's Bride, a favorite!
Some of the large tea canisters can be seen top, left. (This is the view from our table.)

To see more of "The Tea Room" go here to ParTea Lady's post on it last week.

Thanks to the following ladies for hosting these memes:

Terri, Tea Cup Tuesday
Susan, Tablescape Thursday

The other places we ate probably qualify for "Tabletops" as well:
We had Sunday Brunch at "Soho South Cafe" a fun restaurant and art gallery.

I had pecan waffles, and fruit:
I had to show this picture of the Soho restaurant, it was a fun, interesting place!

My daughters Ashleigh(L) and Alyson(R) in front of Soho South Cafe:
Okay, I can't wait any longer, now I will share pictures of the bed and breakfast where we stayed! It will also have many "tabletops" included! This is where we stayed!
My two daughters took me to Savannah to celebrate my 70th birthday, just the three of us! Most everything was a surprise, all I knew was that we were going to Savannah. I didn't know where we would stay, or eat, etc. We stayed in this beautiful YELLOW B&B, it is the Forsyth Park Inn, right across from the famous Forsyth Park which is usually shown in Savannah ads.
Ashleigh and Alyson in front of the fountain at Forsyth Park

The Inn's side porch:
We enjoyed this porch!

We could get a peek at the fountain from the porch:
It's on the left between the column and Alyson, (sorry the trees cover it a bit in this pic.)

Here I am at the entryway

As you walk in the door you see these beautiful stairs on the left
(our room wasn't upstairs, thank goodness!)

The fireplace was on the right:
The parlor was through a door on the right:
Notice the walls are yellow!
It is a very lovely room!
Filled with yellow roses!

I wanted these ginger jars!!

The snack and beverage bar was on the opposite side of the parlor:
Mini cherry cheesecakes were served one night

and large chocolate covered strawberries the next night:
Here's a close-up of that gorgeous tapestry:
Sadie, the resident house cat joined us during snacktime:
We relaxed on the porch at night while we had our snacks:
The daily news was also available:

Our beautiful bedroom had two queen-size beds. The walls look green, but they were yellow!
Chair beside my bed:
Turntable and beautiful lamp:
Note the beautiful floors!

Turndown service and robes:
A bathroom shot for Sheila!
The floral wallpaper was gorgeous! It also has a Jacuzzi tub!

Now lets go outside the Inn to the garden, walk through this gate:
The fountain, a cottage behind was also for rent:
Ashleigh:
and me:

Breakfast was served on the porch at these tables:

We forgot both mornings to take pictures of the full breakfasts:
On Sunday we were served French toast stuffed with strawberries and cream cheese, sausage links and scrambled eggs, fruit and yogurt, and muffins. Saturday we had a spinach egg breakfast casserole with sausage, grits, fruit, biscuits, etc.
We really enjoyed that porch!
The whole bed and breakfast experience was more than wonderful!!! www.forsythparkinn.com
We stayed in Room 3, check out all the rooms!

Walking around town:

Lots of shopping:
"What happens in Savannah,
Stays in Savannah!!"

We enjoyed seeing The Paris Market, interesting store!

After a late breakfast (at nine) we had smoothies at "Smooth" to tide us over until we had our Afternoon Tea at 3:30 p.m.

The end of a fantastic day!

Other places we ate:

Because of our Southern heritage, the girls planned Southern food restaurants!
"Sweet Potatoes" is a really cute place to eat and the food was delicious! A different sweet potato dish is served daily, we also had lima beans, okra and tomatoes, asparagus, cabbage slaw, sweet potato salad, butter beans, catfish, baked sweet potato, and cornbread and biscuits! Yum!

Another night we had something else from our Southern background - Krystal burgers! For those of you who aren't familiar with them, they are similar to White Castle burgers.

Alyson also put together this great booklet of the plans of where we would go, restaurant menus, etc! I'm still enjoying reading it:

It also includes this article below that was in Paula Deen's Jan/Feb 10 magazine:
Interesting article about the Forsyth Park Inn bed and breakfast!

We didn't eat at Paula Deen's restaurant because we didn't want to spend so much time waiting in line to make reservations, then waiting in line again to get seated! I've eaten there before anyway. We did take a picture of the three-story restaurant, and we went into "Paula's Store," it has tons of her stuff.
Paula Deen's The Lady and Sons Restaurant

Thanks for staying with me to the end (and wasn't bored!!) I hope you enjoyed seeing my wonderful birthday celebration with my daughters, they pampered me and I felt like a queen! It was truly a highlight of my life!

I had to have this, as a memento of our wonderful trip! It's a wooden plaque replica of the B&B.

Thanks for your visit! I'll try to return your comment next week when I get home from my sister's. (See following message)

God Bless.

Katherine

Katherine, it looks like you had such a wonderful time with your daughters for your birthday. I love to visit Savannah. Such a pretty place. The B&B you stayed in is really nice. We have only stayed in hotels there. May try the B&B next time. We have stayed in a couple in other places and I love them. I must tell you that you sure don't look seventy years young!

Oh what a great post. This makes me sad that we didn't get over to Savannah the other week when we were on vacation. We were going to swing over there one day. You have shown us some nice places to visit--hopefully I will remember when I do go there!

What a great post on your birthday trip to Savannah and what sweet daughters you have. I can't wait to visit The Tea Room again in July. The china looks like it might be Churchill Blue Willow - I'll have to check it out.

Your B&B looked wonderful. We will be at Planters Inn on Reynolds Square. Thanks for showing restaurants too. I'd like to try Sweet Potatoes.

I love the plaque you bought as a memento.

What is your secret to looking so young? What a wonderful post and what fun to be at the gorgeous B&B with your two thoughtful daughters. I am on Hilton Head island often and go into Savannah but I have not heard of the Sweet Potato. I must give it a try next time I come into town. Happy Birthday!
