Let's chat!

I had planned to post a Tabletop Tuesday, but it has been canceled this week, soooo.....let's take this opportunity to chat a little!

How was your Valentine's Day? We had a lovely weekend. We went to a classical concert at our church Saturday night. Our pastor is also a concert violinist and he hosts a few concerts throughout the year. This year he was accompanied by a concert pianist, and a string quartet. The concert was most enjoyable! Wine and cheese, plus great hors d'oeuvres were served before the concert.
My husband gave me a dozen white roses this Valentine's Day and a wonderfully sweet card! We tried to omit any chocolates, but a few friends gave us chocolates! What did I give my husband you ask? A nice card and on Sunday I cooked him one of his favorite meals!

Last Thursday I received a very nice give-away package I won from Melissa's Heart and Home. She has a beautiful blog featuring here wonderful home decorating. Check it out here.
How exciting to receive this large box full of goodies!

She had so many pretties inside -- a canvas painting, two votive candles, Romantic Country magazine, two bags Dove chocolate hearts, note cards and pen, large mug with matching spoon rest, and a darling yellow rabbit plate.

Unfortunately, the plate arrived in two pieces, and the spoon rest was chipped! Boo-hoo!!!

Folks, the post office can't be trusted! Please use bubble wrap or styrofoam peanuts when shipping fragile things! Last week I was at the post office and witnessed a female worker trying to transport a huge stack of packages on a hand truck, when she tried to make a turn, all of the packages fell off, including the ones marked fragile!!! Yes, it was an accident, and accidents happen!!

Melissa had so many other nice things in the package that all was well!
Thanks so much Melissa!!
I will enjoy all of the other items! Hmmm, maybe I'll make a mosaic stepping stone with the broken pieces! Any other suggestions?

Don't forget to smell the roses!
The white roses were a surprise, he usually gives me yellow roses, (or red on Valentine's Day.)
I'm enjoying the beautiful white roses, a nice change.
I love all roses, I love seeing them go from rose buds to fully open!

What is your favorite color rose? Or your favorite flower?

Is everybody getting ready for Marty's Cloche Party this coming Friday, February 19th! I'm excited about participating in another one of her fun parties! Click here for details!

Have a happy day!
God Bless.

What beautiful white roses Katherine! They are my all time favorite flower. Truly lovely.

I'm so happy you received your box of goodies! It is quite unfortunate two of the items were damaged in transit though. Please enjoy everything else. Once again I am so sorry I did not package them properly.

Have a wonderfully blessed week. ~Melissa :)

I received a package from a fellow blogger and the gift was broken also. I think the answer is double boxing...with the padding! Glad you won though....have a great week!

The white roses are just beautiful! I love them. This is the first year my husband actually gave me a satin heart shaped box of chocolates. It is a beautiful box and I will love it even when it is empty.

What beautiful roses! I love white roses...and yellow...and red...and orange...etc.

My sweet husband took me out for brunch and for a wonderful drive along the coast. I prepared a special meal for him that evening. We ate by the fire and watched the Olympics...reminiscing the birth of our eldest son...a Valentine baby who turned 30 (yikes!) yesterday. Our youngest son and his wife dropped in to get the pups and we had a lovely chat. They're so much fun!
It was a lovely day...

My favorite rose is pale pink. I have a huge trailing pink one call New Dawn and have clipped & started about 7 new bushes from it! I especially love the old damask roses and plan on purchasing some this season.

The white roses from your hubby are beautiful - I like the red heart accents too. It must have been fun to receive the nice give-away package from Melissa.

I like coral colored roses and my favorite flower is the calla lily.

G'day Katherine ~ What lovely gifts.

All parcels should be insured as well as packed with bubble wrap if fragile.

Your roses are exquisite ... I LOVE any color roses, but pink would top my list. Pop over & visit my GREEN roses from Valentine's, they are awesome.

Have a beautiful day ~

Pretty pristine white roses! A mosaic of some sort would be nice for the plate, maybe instead of a stepping stone, a hot plate with a wood frame. Just an idea. joan

I love the white roses. How beautiful. As for the items arriving broken--I try to use UPS as much as possible. Yes more expensive but I have never had any problems with broken items. But I agree -- wrap, wrap, and wrap some more!

I read this post a few days ago, but couldn't comment b/c I had the baby in my arms & couldn't type. I am so glad you won Melissa's giveaway, but so sad that plate broke & the spoon rest got chipped. I love that little plate. I have the green version. You're so right about the post office. That's why I've almost given up on eBay! They make it so hard to file a claim, that it's not even worth the bother.

I like to put broken plates, teacups, and saucers in my garden. I tuck them into the dirt, making them be a background for a nice plant. That way the broken edge can't be seen and they really look pretty in the garden.

I broke a beautiful black porcelain teacup this week. It is not tucked into the dirt in my teacup herb pot. It is one of those large teacup planters that Walmart sold last year. My large teacup has black in it, so the black porcelain teacup matches nicely.

I like to be able to use things even if they are broken --- and doing a mosaic would be fun --- but getting to it is another thing for me.
