I guess the inspiration for the color scheme and theme came from these napkins I found a few weeks ago at Home Goods. They have a gold snowflake embroidered on one corner of each.
I used my gold damask tablecloth and black chargers with a gold/bronze edges. The white plates and crystal goblets are all gold rimmed. The gold jeweled napkin rings are upright and have a napkin standing in each of them.
The black handled flatware was a steal at Ross a few months ago. I wouldn't have bought it, but it has a four piece place setting and was only $3.99!!!
I won't be using them daily, but they are fine for playing with tablescapes and maybe using occasionally at a luncheon or tea party!
For the centerpiece I started with the large gold mirror and draped a black mesh shawl on it. I again used my gold mercury glass compote. I'm really getting my money's worth from this one, and it only cost $5.99! I filled it with a black velvet stole, two gold mesh table runners, gold and pearl beads, and the two jeweled gold mercury glass balls.
I'm tying to think what to call this tablescape, maybe golden snowflakes and jewels, or midnight and golden snowflakes. Any suggestions?
I do like those little golden snowflakes:
Thanks to Susan for hosting Tablescape Thursdays so we can play with our dishes every week! Go here for lots more inspiration.Have a happy day!

Dramatic. This table makes a big statement. I am not ready for valentine's decor yet, either. Not for 2 more weeks.
Very, very attention grabbing!

Oh Katherine sweetie...
How elegant this is. I love the black and gold combination. It is so rich laying on the table displayed as you have put it. So very elegant.
I love the little snowflakes on the napkins, such a nice touch and the silverware is just beautiful. I am afraid at 3.99, I would have snatched it up too.
Your centerpiece is just beautiful. What a dramatic table setting. Thank you for sharing.
Country hugs sweetie...Sherry
The black and gold make for a dramatic look for your winter table. I agree with you about holding off on Valentine's decor for a few weeks yet.
Katherine, I know what to call it- Beautiful! It is definately dramatic. Love the black.
Ooooo, very dramatic, Darh-link! I'm surprised you didn't add some of your beautiful yellow depression plates to the scene. They would have picked up the gold nicely. It is beautiful just the way it is, though.
What a bargain on the black handled silverware! ~Lucky Dog~Lucky Dog~

All the best,

I love that you did gold snowflakes! Usually they are done in silver and the gold really adds elegance.
Dramatic and lovely to say the least. The color combination is perfect. I love the idea of naming it "Molten Gold Midnight Madness".
Katherine~I too am not ready to decorate for Valentine. I've still got remnants of Christmas displayed. It went by sooo quickly, I feel like enjoying it a little longer.
what a stunning setting. your tablescape has a regal feel with the gold and black. My favorite creative touch has to be the napkins rings with the perched napkins inside, it's so clever.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
Beautiful, love the napkins and the centerpice.

I just love the napkins and the way you did your centerpiece. It all looks great, as usual.
Hi Katherine,
I love the drama and sophistication of this one! Black and gold is such a rich, regal combination. I smiled when you said you were trying to decide what to call it. I often do that too. Set the table ... and then try to "assign" a title and/or theme to it!
Warmest regards,
Bill
Black Tie?
I love it. It is very romantic. I really love the napkins and the way you presented them.

Katherine, I love your table setting. The black and gold is pure elegance and style. Perfect for this time of the year. It reminds me a bit of some of the Venetian table settings I have seen in Italy. You are so creative!!

This is a lovely and dramatic tablescape. The snowflake napkins are great and what a wonderful find that cutlery was. I liked how you incorporated the large fringed cloth into the centerpiece.
