Tablescape Thursday

Today is the one-year anniversary of Tablescape Thursdays. Thank you, Susan, at Between Naps on the Porch, for hosting this fun meme for the past year! Go here to see lots more inspiration.

I named my tablescape today Golden Tea Time. These dishes had a message for me. They told me I have become a dish addict! I have said I'm not going to purchase dishes to participate in TTs, but I've gone back on my word! I kept seeing these dishes at TJ Maxx and really loved them mainly because they are yellow, a deep yellow, but very pretty.

When they went on sale I couldn't resist! They were really inexpensive, just two and three dollars each! By the time I decided to buy them a lot were gone and I ended going to several stores to complete the place settings for four.

The platter cost $3.99, it cost more than the other pieces.

I used an off-white lace tablecloth over a gold tablecloth.

The centerpiece is a large mirror used as a tray displaying my grandmother's antique clock, candlestick, and a small picture of my grandmother when she was a teen. A few gold colored roses are scattered around in the vignette.

I bought the napkins at Ross recently at $1.99 for four. They are a shimmering fabric. I paired them with yellow cotton napkins.

The napkins are tied with gold twine and each one has a vintage pin on them.

It was hard to get a true picture of the color, with the flash they look brighter. The picture above
shows a scissors pin.

This picture has a hat pin. This color isn't true at all, but neither is the one below!

The pin on the napkin above has a jade stone on it.

A gold circle pin is on this napkin.

The napkins actually match the color of the mirror.

A close-up of the antique clock.

Above, a close-up of my grandmother's picture, and a photo locket pin. Sorry, these pictures didn't turn out better.

I didn't place anything on top of the salad plate because it has a pretty design on it, so does the dinner plate.

A brass figurine is at each place setting.

Another reason I like the deep yellow dishes is because they match the paint on the walls in our house. Above you can see the paint color on the column on the left.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my Golden Tea Time tablescape! I wish you could join me for tea!

Have a happy day!
God Bless.

Katherine

Love the tablescape! I have looked at the yellow pattern a while but as you can see from my post/site, I went w/ the white. Same place, same price and LOVE them! I ended up going w/ the large chargers though but love these dishes!

Oh, Katherine, I'm just spellbound by your gorgeous table! Those dishes are wonderful and you know if I found them somewhere near my home I couldn't leave them there, either. Especially on sale! Your centerpieces are always so nice and I've learned a lot from your inspiration. Thanks for sharing with us.

Oh, Katherine, I bought the same dishes and cups in white! too funny! I was thinking the same thing...I can't keep buying dishes! I DID buy them, but when I got home and couldn't find a place to store them, I took them back...now seeing yours, I'm sorry! It's beautiful with your pretty accessories and lace tablecloth. I like the look of lace over a solid color tablecloth, so it peeks through. Happy Tablescape Thursday! Mary

I love these dishes! Cant say that I blame you for buying them. I love the center piece and those little brass figurines.

I think your flash was over exposing some of the pictures pictures but I liked the difference in the colors....some of them really made the table look like a Fall colored theme...you see the Dog Days are really getting to me and I am really trying to find COOL things in everything I look at! LOL Just over look me! LOL!

Just too funny! I was thinking the same thing, and asked my husband if the weight of all these dishes would pull the cabinet off the wall...he just shook his head at me and walked away! LOL!! Luckily, I have several other storage spaces. I think we're safe...let's see who can get back to Home Goods first! Smiles, Mary
