Tablescape Thursday

One of my favorite blogging days is participating in Susan's Tablescape Thursday. Go here to her lovely blog to find lots more inspiration.

Today's tablescape is Butterflies are Free. I bought these purple butterflies at a dollar store a few months ago.

The tablecloth is white Battenburg. A friend gave me two sizes of these tablecloths a few years ago. This one was never used and still in the package. I had to iron this 100% cotton baby, believe me I was thinking it would soon go into the GW bag! I'm so thankful for new fabrics for tablecloths these days! A spring green tablecloth is used underneath the Battenburg lace.

Napkins are sheer white with embroidered leaf designs. I have a matching table runner but didn't want to use it on top of the Battenburg lace.

The white dinner plates are from Dollar Tree a few years ago. The green salad plate is from Marshall's. The glasses were a dollar each at Home Goods.

Four small purple (dollar store) butterflies grace the side of each plate.

The centerpiece is a white shabby chic candlabra with purple candles, purple silk hydrangea, and the large butterflies.

I have two cute butterfly accessories I'm also sharing.

This small butterfly tea pot has a 3-D butterfly on top of the lid.

The small tea cup and saucer has butterflies on it and the cup handle is butterfly wings.

My original plan was to do a centerpiece using a vintage music box that has a lot of green on the padded top. The purple hydrangeas tie in with the purple butterflies.

It looks okay, but I wasn't totally satisfied with it.

Just didn't have the pizzaz I had hoped for.

Here it is with the dishes:

Which do you prefer,
this?

Or this?
I really like both, but I think my favorite is this one:

I hope you enjoyed seeing my butterfly Tablescape Thursday!

Have a happy day!
God Bless.

The purple and green is so pretty together. Such a lovely tablescape. The butterflys are gorgeous. I have never seen a teacup with a handle like that, just fabulous. I like both of the centerpieces, I think they're both great. Hugs, Marty

My goodness, those salad plates are wonderful!
I like both centerpieces, but there is something so appealing about the little chest and the way you've set up the flowers makes it look like they go right through the vintage music box. It's a very unique piece and a very unique idea for a centerpiece. But I also love anything shabby chic, so I love the candelabra too!
The color combination is beautiful and I love the way you tied everything in together. Great job!
All the best,
Eileen

I think I'm agreeing with you. I like both as well. I like your Butterflies are free theme. Very creative for a tablescape. The battenburg lace is beautiful. But I so hate to iron. I too love the butterfly details going on here. And the purple highlights.

I always look forward to your tablescapes because you have such a knack for it...this time is no exception!! What a wonderful colour combination and I just love the butterflies throughout. As for the centerpiece I think I prefer the candelabra...or you can just add the box as well:-) xoxo

Love your table -- the green and the purple and the butterflies! Seems besides Tablescape Thursday that it is purple/lavender Thursday!

Hi Katherine,

The color combination works really well in this one. I hope you'll keep the beautiful tablecloth (although I ironed one just like it recently and, yes, they're a pain!) The butterflies add a nice touch of whimsy! I agree with your decision to go with the candle holder, but the box is special too ... perhaps you could use it next time elevated on a stand, flanked by two single candleholders. Just a thought ... ;)

Gorgeous tablescape! I love your dishes and the addition of the butterflies. The teapot is so pretty, too. The tablecloth is beautiful, but I agree about ironing them. It's just not fun.
