This is not the story I had planned to post, but here it is.
This is the front of our house.
There's a courtyard with an arbor
next to the entryway.
Here's the arbor
It has Fuschia bougainvillea growing on it.
See the limb touching the
corner of the window frame?
It has a little Spanish Moss hanging down.
There's a Cardinal's
bird's nest there where the
Spanish Moss is hanging down!
Here's the brown female cardinal sitting in the nest!
We were so excited to discover the bird's nest!
This is our dining room window.
See how close it is to the nest?
We were entertained daily watching
the mother bird sitting on the nest.
But.....
and didn't return all weekend :-(
Thursday I saw (from the window)
she was standing in the nest looking
down, she stayed that way most
of the day. Standing, not sitting
on the eggs.
On Monday we brought the ladder
around to check out the nest:
Two perfect eggs.
Looks like mother abandoned her nest.
I googled to find out what might
cause her to flee? Several reasons -
one being fear.
We are sooo disappointed. We left the
nest and eggs in place (did not touch either.)
My husband did trim some of the blossoms
from the bougainvillea.
They do look pretty in vases.
And there's another bible verse
beside it. Jeremiah 29:10-13
So that is the story that almost was.
I was hoping to post pictures of
the baby birds being fed by
a beautiful red cardinal male.
Blame it on 2020! Ha!
Oh, well, we are thankful for
our beautiful home and many
other blessings!
The ladder hasn't been there until yesterday.
Beautiful Bouganvillea!
Does anyone have any ideas of what
could have happened? Please share!
