Gingerbread!

I'm a little late, but wanted to share my gingerbread men tablescape on Cuisine Kathleen's Let's Dish this week!  Thanks, Kathleen, for hosting (and taking late posts), click on her name for lots more fun! I'm also linking to Susan's Tablescape Thursday, click on her name for lots of inspiration.

I've had a small collection of gingerbread men (and women) for a while, but haven't used them in several years. I decided to decorate the breakfast nook with them this year since our granddaughter would be here.

The centerpiece:

I found the resin gingerbread house at Dollar General several years ago. The styrofoam gingerbread man is from the 70s!

Don't remember where I found the garlands, they are different, and so cute!

I think the mugs came from Cracker Barrel a few years ago. I can't remember where I found the napkin rings, or the candlestick in the tray, or the placemats!

I hung a lot of gingerbread ornaments from the chandy:

Couldn't get a good picture with the bright light from the doors and windows (flash was too bright too.)
Little ceramic gingerbread people on the drop-leaf table:

How cute is that!

                            A few on the floor:

and here and there!

We found the time to make some gingerbread (Betty Crocker mix!) and use this gingerbread house pan!

They came out pretty good!

Granddaughter, Elisabeth, enjoyed decorating them:

We also made some gingerbread men (cakes) and trees:

It was fun and she enjoyed it a lot. We had to stop in time to go see the movie "Frozen" (a very good movie, highly recommended.)

I hope you enjoyed seeing our gingerbread fun!

Take a seat and join us!
We had apple cider with the gingerbread!

Do you like gingerbread? What do you serve it with? My favorite is lemon sauce on top, but I've also served it with Cool Whip, or applesauce is also very good with it! Yum!

I wish I had taken pictures of the food after it was served.
I have promised Elisabeth all these gingerbread decorations, but they didn't have room in the over-packed car, so I will save it for her!

Don't want to forget Ginger and Brad!

Happy New Year!

Katherine

What a sweetheart your little Elisabeth is!! She did a good job of decorating, too.
LOVE all your darling gingerbread items, Kathleen...great collection.
You've inspired me to place my one & only Dept. 56 house on a tray & create a special scene for it next year. Very cute idea!

Looks like you had a lovely Christmas & I hope your New Year is even better. Stay Healthy...that is what is most important!

Warm Hugs,
Rett

What fun times spent with a special little granddaughter. I loved seeing all the gingerbread people. I can't wait to do something like this with my little guy. We did make a couple miniature gingerbread men this year, but he is just 15 months.

Hooray for gingerbread!!! I finally got some to eat last week, and now I get some to look at and enjoy with my eyes! You have a really terrific collection! I especially like the gingerbread house/person garland on the back of the chair. It's really cute. Looks like you got a really great deal on the resin gingerbread house, too! I need to remember to go into Dollar General every once in a while. It's right there near the grocery store, but I always forget about it for some reason. :-(

Really cute, Katherine! Happy New Year!!!

I am so far behind in blog reading, and I'm making it all the worse because I find myself reading missed posts like your White Christmas one and getting off on little rabbit trails of inspiration.

As for this gingerbread one, I love it in a big way. I think my favorite extra touch is the swag on the chairs, but I really think your whole collection is wonderful. I would LOVE one of those cake pans and am now going to keep my eye out for something like that before next year. I have epic gingerbread house failures, and that would be so different.

I usually like mine with whipped cream, but the husband has to slother applesauce all over his. I guess we're a house divided. Ha!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! As you can probably tell, I haven't so much as pinned for a long time. I've just been walking a wide circle around the computer for a thousand different reasons.

What I finally found upon giving myself space is that I missed it.
Go figure.

I love this K, it is darling, just like your gdaughter! She did a great job decorating the houses.
Those garlands on the chair are so cute! I am so glad you did this, I loved seeing it! I am sending it to my friend Gail, she collects gingerbread items.
Thanks so much for sharing at Let's Dish!
