Summer Whimsy!

Summer Whimsy! This is the theme for Cuisine Kathleen's Let's Dish Challenge for the month of June. I always enjoy the challenges, thanks for hosting, Kathleen!  We live in Florida and what is more whimsy in FL than fake flamingos!

I have a new bright yellow fringed tablecloth and napkins which I bought from Home Goods recently with a birthday gift card from my daughter.

A great price too for all of them:

I had been looking for a bright yellow tablecloth when I found the light yellow one a few months ago. All of you know how I LOVE any shade of yellow, so I was delighted when I found the bright yellow set and had "free money!" (Also had money left over! Fun, fun!!)

I also have more new placemats, can't beat this price for four!
Hard to get the true color, but they are more fuschia.

 Love the tropical colors together!

This tablescape was quite inexpensive - the flamingos are from Dollar Tree. This flamingo "sunglasses" make perfect napkin rings!

I used bright orange and yellow plates (also from Dollar Tree) atop the fuschia place mats.
The colorful flatware works really well too!

The green glasses were from Home Goods a few years ago.

The flamingo and palm tree stirrers are also from Dollar Tree.

 The Centerpiece:
I found the metal lantern at Home Goods too, for only $7.99

Instead of putting a candle in it, I added water and a small split leaf philodendron (from our yard, so glad there was a "baby leaf" on it as they get huge!

Dollar Tree had the small flamingo balloon and the bright pink silk hibiscus blooms. (Most FL houses have hibiscus, but no pink ones around here for me to pick! ;-)

These small flamingo figurines also came from Dollar Tree:

Look closely at the whimsy swim ring:

The other one is holding a basket:

And they both are wearing flip-flops! LOL!

We recently were at a luau and I brought home the flamingo straw (wish I had four of them!)

Come on over! I'll fill the glasses with a special drink (your choice!)
Here's a place just for you!

Is is hot enough where you are? We are warming up real good here in central Florida! I'm not complaining, I still remember those cold temps last winter!!

I'm also linking to Susan's Tablescape Thursday. Click on her name and Kathleen's for lots of inspiration.

Happy Summer!

Katherine

It is hot enough and then some here in the Kansas City, MO area!!! It got up to 90 or 91 today, and the humidity is stifling. No point at all in trying to create a hairdo...it will just fall into a pile of sticks on your head! And forget about makeup, too. It just ends up drizzling down your neck like ganache on a cake! It's just awful!!!

This is one of the neatest of your tablescapes!!! It totally has that Florida look, and I love it! The bright pink placemats on the yellow tablecloth was a really good choice. I like the way you repeated the bright pink in those whimsical sunglasses/napkin rings! What a fun and original idea!! The choice of flatware is spot on, too, Katherine. It really corrals all of the colors and brings a different pattern with the stripes. The stripes remind me of that old Fruit Stripe chewing gum! Do you remember that from back in the day? I'm not sure if they even sell it anymore.

You got some great bargains at Home Goods! And you have a little moolah left over to go back for more! :-)

Split leaf philodendron? OK...I'll have to remember that. I wasn't exactly sure what those were. I like them a lot. Of course, we don't have them growing here in the Midwest, but we can buy them potted at some nurseries. The leaves are great for decorating!

Really fun table, Katherine! You hit the mark for Kathleen's party! Have a great rest of the week, and give my best to Joe!

You nailed the whimsical theme! Love all the color here and the fun things like the flamingos! The flamingo sunglasses used for the napkins is too cute. I like the way you made the candle holder into a vase- great idea! Dual purpose gives more mileage for the uses of something like that.

It's starting to heat up here in east/central Kansas, too...just wish the humidity wasn't so high.
What a cute flamingo table...I just love the glasses...what a cool idea to use them as napkin holders and the flatware, how adorable! Your new tablecloth/napkins is such a pretty shade of yellow...great find.
Have a wonderful week, Katherine.

Katherine, Today was our first really humid day here in CT, and already I'm dreading more of those days! I love flamingos and I would really enjoy sitting at your table. I might even wear the napkin rings! Very clever and colorful too. Linda

Love this, K! The tablecloth and napkins are great, and with those placemats, the color pops. Nothing like a flamingo to say whimsy! Great idea on the sun glass napkin holders too! You did a great job, so much fun!
Thanks for joining in the Summer Whimsy Party!

Very cute! I love the lantern and the flamingos. Alycia is right about the flatware corralling all of the beautiful bright summer colors together. Pink, yellow, and orange say Summer in Florida to me.

Using the flamingo sunglasses as napkin rings is one of the best tablescaping ideas I've ever heard. Thanks, and the flatware is great too!

I know I'm late to this, but if you're like me you will still see this comment at some point. I went out of town for our 30th anniversary and am just not back in the groove yet.

I loved this happy whimsical table. The colors are so festive, and I love all the flamingo stuff. For whatever reason, flamingos just remind me of Florida fun so they are perfect for your table.

As for heat? I won't complain to someone who lives south of me, but I'm in the "I hate summer" mode already. Sigh.
